Spent one night here prior to catching the ferry to Ireland from Cairnryan, which is only a ten minute drive away. The hotel may be a little dated here and there but it adds to the character of the place, which it has in abundance. What this hotel also has is fantastic staff, from the moment I arrived the staff... More

We loved our overnight break in this lovely historic hotel. The room was large and very comfortable with all we required. Not the nicest view as we overlooked the local police station but comforting to know they were near at hand, I guess! And we could see Loch Ryan over the roof tops. The hotel is a little dated but... I stayed at the hotel, yes it is a little dated however the service was first class. I was greeted by the Hotel Manager and the reception staff were helpful and welcoming. The food was delicious and well presented. The waitresses yes a few were young but they were polite and helpful. The hotel manager Rachel was young but very... More

Called in for lunch before 7.30pm ferry home at c1.30pm, I asked the receptionist did they serve lunch and was advised yes, in the bar, so went into the bar and there was one young bar tender there who walked passed me with no comment, I stood for a few minutes but felt awkward as there was two people in... We recently stayed here on a 3 night deal, 2 nights dinner and 3 breakfasts. The welcome at reception was fantastic very easy to check into. The room was right at the front looking over Loch Ryan and the ferry ports at Cairnryan. We went down to dinner on the first night lovely looking menu, I chose the Gressingham Duck... More

Arrived at the North West Castle Hotel (Monday) after a difficult journey from East Midlands via A66 to meet relations to have nostalgic trip around Mull of Galloway as well as a trip to Northern Ireland to see the Giants Causeway. The hotel is very handy for the ferry terminal. Having read previous reports re the Hotel we were very... More

Very disappointing stay at the North West Castle. I arrived to find my room had a single bed. I asked if it was possible to have a double bed. Not possible all remaining rooms had single beds. What sort of hotel has single beds in 2016? This is the first one I have encountered. I tried to connect to the... More

This is a very strange property indeed, can't quite put my finger on it. However, Corby trouser presses and floral curtains aside this hotel boasts good facilities at extraordinary value. The initial impression of the building is of a slightly foreboding white castle inside white high walls that seems entirely out of place in the small town of Stranraer. The... More

This hotel has a very smart traditional dining room, with staff who are efficient and helpful. The bedrooms however, don't back up the image. They are very dated and unattractive, but with a comfortable bed and plentiful supply of towels. I didn't like the pervious guest's pair of used socks on the bedroom floor when I arrived (staff apologised), the... More

Good safe location. Open parking space in front of the hotel. Perfect to keep a eye on the Bike. Very friendly and helpfull receptioniste (yan) at the front desk. Large spic & span rooms with all comfort. Superbe restaurant with a menu to keep everyone happy. The complete hotel was the closest to perfection, complete staff included. Thanks a lot.... More
