Lunch we decided was to be taken at the newly reopened hotel... Wishing now we hadn't bothered,..Stood for ages just to be served drinks,One pint of Guinness and a lime and soda water cost £7...£3. For the lime and soda, are they ripping people off because of the drink and drive laws in Scotland??? We looked for a table that was... More

The Powfoot has recently reopened under new owners who have managed to provide the hotel with an almost homely feel. The hotel has been redecorated to an excellent standard the rooms are clean and light with fantastic views over the golf course and the beds are a dream to sleep in. One can eat either in the bar or in... More

Do ignore earlier reviews of this hotel as it has recently reopened. The location is lovely, overlooking the coast at Powfoot. The new owners are gradually updating the hotel and it is benefiting greatly from some tlc. The foyer and bar are welcoming, and the ground floor toilets are modern and pristine. The Del Amitri restaurant is to the same... More

Returned for a third visit, having had one good and one not so good experience. Ordered duck advised at time of ordering it would be served pink. The dish arrived looking less than appetising, duck hid the now mandatory red cabbage while the mash lacked any taste as was at best warm to cool side. Poor choice on my behalf... More

Stayed here last Saturday night, 9th of July. Excellent room, food and staff. If your looking for 5 star everything including views this is the place to go. It was complete chance we found this hotel and will definitely be back. Our 14 year old son was with us and he loved the place also and that is a compliment.... More

Booked afternoon tea. It wasn't busy but seemed disorganised. Underwhelmed by the plainness of the sandwiches and a disproportionate amount of cakes. Why would you serve jam and clotted cream with a dark chocolate and orange scone? And one tea bag in the pot of tea.... I'm disappointed really I am especially when I know how brilliant it can be!

I had lunch at the revamped hotel and I found that the bar and restaurant menu were near enough the same. I thought the menus should have been different between the bar and the restaurant for people who just want a bar meal instead of 5 star food. I was looking for something a little less pricey considering I was... More
