First the good: the immediate environs are bleakly romantic and remote. The kitchen was awarded a Michelin star. Maybe even two. The bedding is high quality. The lady doing breakfast the morning we left was friendly and smiling. And some people obviously love all the rest. We will never ever go back there, because it was extortionately expensive for unfriendly... More

We can see why Sir Winston Churchill chose to meet here secretly to discuss D-Day with General Eisenhower, as it is really remote and the roads to get here are narrow and windy. Once you get here, Knockinaam Lodge is a real treat. We stayed in the South Room with views over the sea and didn't want to go anywhere... More

We stayed here on a two night db&b deal and enjoyed absolutely everything. From arrival to departure we were looked after discreatly but attentively. The location is private, beautiful and peaceful and the tasting menu was wonderfully cooked and presented. Ann was especially welcoming and helpful. I would highly recommend this hotel.

Spent a night here recently for the wifey's birthday treat…and what a treat it was. Drove there popped into Port Patrick first which is beyond the cut off for the Lodge, when driving into the Lodge it is far off the main road but its well signed. When we got there we were meant to stop before parking we parked... More

We came for our fourth visit to the place where twenty years ago we spent our honeymoon. This time we came with friends. I simply cannot describe what an exquisite pleasure it is to drive along that final road, drop down through the trees and see the lodge nestling in the hidden valley next to the sea. From the welcome... More

We went for 1 night stay in March 2016 to celebrate my birthday. The location was stunning and on arrival we were warmly welcome by the receptionist on duty. We went for an afternoon walk along the cliff tops from the the hotel, which was lovely, if a bit of a climb but well worth the effort. Our room was... More

We spent one night at this lovely hotel in a pretty rock-fringed bay and it's own pebbly beach. Admittedly the perfect weather helped but it is difficult to find anything bad to say about our stay. We had a lovely spacious room (Whin) with sea view and a big bathroom with seperate shower and bath. We were warmly welcomed and... More

The food is excellent (well worth the awards) and the hotel is located on its own private shore. The rooms are lovely and the whole hotel is relaxing and comfortable. The service is polite and respectful but in no way formal.A most enjoyable stay and we would certainly look to return. One point on a personal note is that we chose not... Very comfortable relaxed country house hotel with steps down to shore from garden. South is our favourite room, bright and with superb views out to sea. Small window seat enables full advantage to be taken of position. We were thrilled to see deer wandering onto the lawn. Electric blankets on bed a real treat; thick curtains and shutters to keep... This is a beautiful part of Scotland, missed by many tourists on their rush to the Highlands. The sea views are wonderful and the climate relatively mild. The dinner was excellent as well as the service from the very pleasant staff. The hotel is beautifully furnished with comfortable lounges and well stocked bar.
