Stayed here with 5 other pals on golf weekend. We booked one of the cottages with 3 rooms. Overall the cottage was fine but there was only one shower which was rediculous. We had to wait for each of us to shower which took up ages. Need second shower room. Last morning at breakfast bit of a farce as chef... More

After explaining to you the layout of your accommodation we find it hard to believe that you are complaining. We upgraded you into a holiday home as there was no room in the Hotel, this was at a discounted price. We agreed to give you breakfast in the hotel which we did but unfortunately we will accept there was a... More

Had a nice peaceful stay here, but first morning was a bit disappointing, breakfast meant to be from 8-9am, l went in small dining room abt 8.05, nobody about, just silent, eventualy someone appeared, no such thing as good morning, l had to ask where to sit, then go & look for someone to ask for a breakfast, then again... Ate here whilst on holiday for a birthday celebration. Sat in the bar, full of loud, quite drunk locals or regulars it seemed, wasn't told or made aware there was an upstairs restaurant. People seemed unable or unwilling to move an inch to let you get near bar to order. At least 8 dogs lying everywhere, including seats. Took the... More

Obviously someone who does not like animals. The Anchor Restaurant is well signed inside and out. The bar is always busy with families, tourist and locals and family pets. Our food reputation is good as you can see from our previous reviews. This complaint was never brought to staff notice and if had been would have been dealt with in... More

We normally eat on the front at the Port, but popped into The Downshire for a change. It doesn't appear to be very well advertised although the public bar downstairs was 'bouncing' with locals, however the Anchor Restaurant is located upstairs. It's not the biggest of restaurants, although you can also eat in the bar, but the menu has plenty... More

Just got back from our annual golf weekend in Portpatrick staying once again at the Downshire. Jenny as usual was very helpful during the planning of our trip booking both the accommodation and the golf. The hotel is right in the middle of the town and close to the golf courses at Portpatrick Dunskey and Stranraer (our courses of choice)... More

Stayed here with a bunch of golfing friends. Food in the restaurant for breakfast and dinner cannot be faulted. However rooms are old, antiquated and need of some modernisation. there for 2 days and had to endure cold water shoers, didnt matter what time of the day. TV didn't work. One of my golfing friends encountered a'tick' embedded in his... More

It is very unfair that someone can put a review on which is totally untrue. All our laundry is done by a professional company. This is possible a competitor trying to run us down if not I would like to hear form the person concerned. Please contact me Paul Phillips More

Stayed here over the weekend with friends. A large group, 6 adults and 4 kids, we stayed in the 3 storey holiday home attached to the pub. Accommodation was beautiful, fully fitted kitchen, 2 double rooms and a triple. Only 1 bathroom tho, small WC on bottom floor but could do with another shower room at least. We went to... More

My husband and his 4 friends cycled down and stayed here one night at a cost of £55 for DBB. The hotel allowed for him to take their bags down the week before and leave them there for them arriving. They had a superb stay from start to finish. They said both the dinner and the breakfast was great quality... More

Had a meal here when staying in portpatrick, was really busy but staff still went about there duties in a most efficient, friendly manner. Meal was pub grub but well presented, tasty and warm, all in all a really enjoyable meal
