The pub is great and a great way to wind down after a long beautiful walk.the landlord Mal and wife Margaret were brilliant they welcomed us and we had such a great laugh with them and the locals that frequent the pub were great they chatted with us and gave us local information and they also bought us drinks there... The welcome I got on arrival was typically rural Indian , greeted like an old friend. The room was warm and clean and bathroom was large with a bath and shower. We had dinner downstairs in the restaurant , not your typical food from the north but authentic food from the south. For breakfast I opted to go Indian and... More

We booked into the Maxwell Arms as this seemed nice from the pictures and reviews on the site. How wrong could we be. Firstly on arrival we went into the Maxwell Arms pub expecting the rooms to be above the actual bar areas but we're told that we needed to be next door. We went next door but found it... More

My company office manager booked me into the Maxwell Arms, and I have to say that I was pleasantly surprised with what I found. My 'twin bed' room was warmly decorated with everything you would need, including a small desk, which was great for checking emails on the free wifi. The staff were very friendly and willing to help at... More

Great hotel, both staff and patrons make you feel most welcome. The hotel is easy to find and it has ample parking at the rear. The bar is well maintained and the staff keep the tables clean and tidy I would gladly give this hotel ten out of ten and would stay at it anytime. Great value for your money,... More

A great little place on the Dalbeattie road. Cosy rooms and a nice reception from the Landlady. We were very well looked after,my children enjoyed it immensely, especially the breakfasts. Thank you Sheila.

This is a great wee pub. We popped in during a visit to Dalbeattie and enjoyed a pint or two. the staff were very friendly and there was a good selection of booze. I would recommend a visit if you are ever there!

The Maxwell Arms is a pub, a hotel and a restaurant. We enjoyed them all. Sheila made us very welcome and knows how to add those little things that make all the difference, like fresh flowers everywhere, fresh milk for your tea making etc. The bed was extrememly comfortable, the whole place was immaculate and clean and the curry in... My wife and I booked into The Maxwell Arms Hotel on the back of the reports on Tripadvisor. What a pleasant surprise was waiting. The minute we entered the hotel we knew this was a diamond. Sheila the owner met us at the door, and welcomed us. I have a few health issues, so she summoned a member of staff... More
