Stayed here for two nights on a deal through a third party website. Room was very basic with private bathroom and toilet across the hall. The pub directly below the room looked nice although we didn't spend any time there. Sound proofing was non-existent and so could hear people chatting in the pub as though they were in the room... Owing to a booking error on their part, I had saved my reservation on my iPad, however they still claimed I had booked the wrong date and charged me! Met a rude obtuse representative of the establishment, whom continually said it was my error even though I showed her the booking page with the dates I required shown.I have contacted... More

My wife and I planned a quiet weekend in a country pub in the Borders and chose this lovely inn which is situated on a quiet lane with easy access to the A1. A small, cosy bar has been extended at the back for a smart restaurant with an outdoor terrace available if the weather allows. Our room was the... More

We stayed here with our son,his wife and baby. The inn was well sign-posted and easy to find. The accommodation was clean and comfortable and suited our needs very well. Unfortunately the food served in the restaurant was very disappointing, quite expensive and really not very good.Breakfast was not included in the price and we thought at £10 each not good value for... I've always wanted to visit this pub which is small and very pretty indeed. A good freshly cooked lunch and glass of wine was marred by some very loud and lengthy political ranting at the bar near where we were sitting. There was no attempt to consider the views of other customers and diners. Puts us off a second visit,... More

Really enjoyed our overnight stay in a remote location but easily accessible from the A1. Stayed in the 'brand new' annex which was excellent with lounge and 2 double bedrooms. It was in fact, a separate cottage attached to the pub. Service in the Pub was great and was attentative. Our only criticism was that the main meals served in... More

We arrived at about 16.30 to find the place all locked up. As we were wondering what to do,a man opened the door. We explained that we had booked one night's accommodation and had just arrived. We were shown to our room upstairs at the front of the Inn. The room was light and pleasantly decorated. We had driven all... More

Made to feel welcome, very clean, bright and warm room. Quiet location on the village main street. Ate in the evening our meals were excellent. Drank in the bar Susan and the (locals) made us feel at home. Not one to visit if you want fast and tasteless food. All cooked fresh and the menue does state this.

Clean but basic room. Shower was barely adequate. Hot water was a dribble and took ages to fill the basin for a shave. Dinner menu was limited and only 2 options if you can't eat gluten, one of these was a special. Food was expensive for what is on offer. Pub is nice as is the dining room and decking... More
