Been to black bull quite a few times. Staff are generally polite and helpful but you can feel a bit squashed in if you eat/drink in the bar. There is a dining room which is nice but both that and a further dining room at the back are lacking in atmosphere and it's not very lively. Food is typically bar... More

We had the family suite on the top floor- two rooms and a shared bathroom. Everything was immaculately clean, with comfortable beds and nice towels(always important). We had an evening meal which we all enjoyed. There was a good choice, well cooked and presented. The breakfast was plentiful and tasty. All the staff were pleasant and helpful. We would definitely... Stayed for one night on a house hunting trip, and have absolutely no complaints - very reasonably priced room with a lovely bed - had a splendid night's sleep. The hotel has great food - I had both dinner and breakfast there, and both were delicious - friendly staff, and fine ales. It's a lovely old building, and right in... More

What a quaint old pub, fantastic size bed, great food, really friendly and welcoming. Stayed two nights when attending wedding at nearby wederburn castle, could not ask for better. This quirky old plaice is well worth the money. Our room had all the facilities available, tea coffee etc., and off road parking is available. Would definitely stay again. Located right... More

Wouldn't consider staying anywhere else when visiting Duns. Accommodation is roomy and comfortable. Food and drink is proudly locally sourced and always fresh and delicious. As a real ale fan I particularly enjoy the selection from local breweries that are unknown to me. Service could not be any more friendly or welcoming.

I stayed here with my wife for two nights to attend a family wedding at nearby Wedderburn Castle. Previous reviews had suggested that it was a pleasant location and we were not disappointed. The room was comfortable, the breakfast superb and the real ale bar welcoming. No fuss at all about our early arrival. My only criticism is of slightly... More
