We recently spent a weekend at Falcon Rest B&B. It was a great weekend! George and Charlene were terrrific hosts!! We cannot say anything negtive about the weekend. We were in the Carriage House. The room was very nice and well appointed. We had the run of the gardens during our stay. They were relaxing, matching the pace of Falcon Rest. Charlene's breakfasts were tasty and well presented. We had breakfast each day in garden near the fountain. Very good food in a pleasant atmosphere. We also toured the Falcon Manor. It is very well restored and has an interesting history. A completely postive experience. It was a relaxing and educational weekend. When we go to the area again, we will absolutley stay at Falcon Rest!
Clean, comfortable, nicely appointed cottage accommodations, however the highlight of our stay was the awesome breakfast Charlien prepared and served right on our cottage. The French Toast was moist & savory and the perfectly cooked omelet was chock full of delicious fillings, each attractively plated with a warm pastry, fresh fruit, juice, and coffee.
We made a spontaneous trip to east TN in March 2016 for Cumberland Caverns & Fall Creek Falls. We found Falcon Rest in the AAA book & confirmed reviews on Trip Advisor. We enjoyed 1st night so much, we stayed a second. George & Charlien are such gracious hosts! You must tour the mansion! We chose to have our breakfast in the Tea Room/Gift shop. Charlien makes a delicious breakfast with a pretty presentation (at any time you prefer) and George makes you feel so welcome with his knowledgeable & witty conversations on current events, history & tourism in the area. We enjoyed it so much that we returned this March 2017 as we attended the PBS taping of Bluegrass Underground at Cumberland Caverns. Another enjoyable stay!
The owners were very nice, and I am sure they do their best, but the place needs an extreme makeover. If I could have looked in the rooms ahead of time, I would have never chosen to spend my money there. There were a few nice antiques, but they were mixed in with overall uncomfortable decor and atmosphere. And the grounds were barren...it was October and not a single fall decoration to be seen. I have so little time and money to spend traveling, and I always choose B&Bs because they are such a special treat. I cannot say that about this stay. And yes they say a mansion tour is not included, but to pay $150 to stay a night, they should let you look inside. That part is so very sad.
Stayed here for a business trip to McMinnville. The owners are very accommodating. The room was clean and the bed was comfortable. The morning breakfast was on time and was delicious. Don't miss a tour of the mansion. It is beautiful and reasonably priced. For your history buffs there is plenty of information on the tour about the history of the mansion and the area. All and all it was a fantastic place to stay and to tour. Would highly recommend it to everyone.
