Stayed here with my mother on 14th August. The room was very spacious and comfortable. My mother didn't fancy the vegetarian option for the evening meal and it wasn't a problem they offered a suitable alternative, also good vegetarian selection for breakfast. The hotel is up quite a steep hill so not suitable for anyone with mobility problems, this didn't... More

Returned to the beautiful Island of Bute, and to the Glenburn, on a superb value Shearings break and loved every minute once again !! Great staff, good food, clean and comfortable room on the second floor with a view to the North over Argyll. Thoroughly enjoyable !! Were there for three nights between Friday and Monday and the weather on... More

Booked this hotel through "Shearings" after looking at various reviews. The hotel has an outstanding view across the water and if you are fortunate enough to get a sea view, it does cost extra, then the view is even better from the top floor. The hotel is very tired but the room was comfortable and clean although a proper shower... More

Looks great from ferry but what a let down close up. Peeling paint on verandah, seats for smokers at one end, non smokers had to stand. Very shabby interior. No longer owned by shearings butstill advertised as a bay hotel. Superior room was not clean, had a cracked sink and mould on the tiles around the bath. Other room booked... More

Just back from a great cabaret weekend break .The room was second floor West facing room above the main entrance which was quiet and recently decorated and suited us just fine .The hotel corridors and staircases are just as they were on our last visit two years ago and require a bit of a facelift and brought up to date... Very impressive looking hotel as you sail in on the ferry. Once close up you can immediately see it cries out for care and attention. Dull reception area. We were given keys to our room. What a disappointment. Horrid brown carpet and walls and the view was just horrendous. Our window looked out onto a wall and an extraction shaft... More

This has the potential to be a fantastic hotel, however we feel very let down. The peeling paint on the outside does not inspire confidence, we walked up the stairs to our room, our number on the sign was missing and the room hard to find. The room needed a good clean, the skirting boards had not seen a duster... More

I didn't stay in this hotel, but called in for dinner as they advertised 'food served all day.' My companion and I decided to take advantage of the 'two meals for £13' menu. It soon became clear as to why the food was so cheap. My companion had a burger and chips which he claimed was bland. I had ham... More

Best location standing on a high-land overlooking Rothesay bay, You can really enjoy their Cabaret Evenings each evening at the 5stars entertainment room. Staff are helpful & foods are delicious. Just 5 minutes walk to town centre and Rothesay ferry terminal. Value for money.
