The Jura Hotel is the perfect spot from which to explore the magical island of Jura, in the Inner Hebrides off the west coast of Scotland. The hotel has a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. There are two comfortable lounges for guests' use; free wifi for hotel residents; a restaurant & lounge bar serving great meals based on local produce and at reasonable prices; and a lively bar, which is the island's only pub.

Called in for a dram, coffe/tea and shortbread. All wonderful and served at the bay window overlooking the bay. Wonderful, despite the rain outside. The person serving us could not have been kinder and more helpful. He was so informative about the Island and more than happy to

We visited the Jura Hotel for one night in February. Because the hotel was very quiet, I suspect we may have been upgraded. The room was lovely, nicely decorated and with a clean, fresh feeling. It was at the front of the hotel, with a view over the Small Isles Bay. The

Considering only hotel and pub on the island I was half expecting to find it extortionate to eat and drink but genuinely surprised. Food is very good and staff welcoming as too the locals. We stayed 3 nights and no issues and the packed lunches we ordered for hiking were

We love Jura! And the Jura Hotel of course. Very thoughtful to have hot chocolate in the room, and the whisky bath gel as well (nope you don’t smell like whisky after that, haha) Your must-stay lodging when you’re here on Jura, amazing view, just next to the distillery if you’re

Hi DLM, I am not sure if this question is still open, since you said you'd be in Scotland this month (surprised nobody has answered for almost a year), but I will send you a quick answer anyhow. The best way is to take the Calmac ferry from Kennacraig to Islay (there are several sailings each day, Cannot post the link, but google Calmac for info), and then the Feolin ferry at Port Askaig (you have to buy the tickets as you cross, go for an open return as you will be staying the night). You can (actually have to) explore much of Jura on foot, as there is only one road (the Long Road), which goes from Feolin on the west coast to one of the estates in the north (Inverlussa I believe, but not sure). If you want to explore the island there is a hiker's guide for sale at the hotel for 3 pounds, which has some very nice routes (plan at least 8 hours for a trip to the paps and be aware that it is deer culling time). Depending on when your flight arrives it may be tough to catch the ferries, as Kennacraig is about 2 1/2 hours driving from Glasgow (but it is a beautiful drive, up the west coast of Loch Lomond and then along Loch Fyne), and you need to check in half an hour before the ferry departs. It may be different with flights from the US, but you should consider spending a night on the mainland (for example in Inveraray or Lochgilphead) and then taking a morning ferry to Islay. Spend some time exploring Islay before heading over to Jura in the early afternoon. Then take an afternoon / evening sailing back to the mainland on the next day. Hope this is not too late, and of course I also hope it is helpful :)
