Went to the cairn with my family on Saturday. Had not been for a year and a half . Nothing had changed. The food at 3 courses for £14.00 is very very poor.. No atmosphere in the place. Three times i spoke to the waiting staff and i am still waiting on an answer, smile or any reaction. It cost me... More

We were there as a booked party of 21 , but only 17 turned up , but that was no problem to the management who had suggested we use a private room , the Cairngrapple . The room was a perfect sixe for us . We had our own personal waiter/barman Johnny ( more about him later 👍) A week... More

food is always great with taste, presentation and value for money. however everything we have visited the waiting staff always get something wrong with the order and the bigger the group the worse it is. and guess what they blame the customer for ordering wrong. Always ends up being changed but it holds up the process of eating together.

We had a family meal in the restaurant on 25th June to celebrate a special birthday. I would like to thank Alistair and all of his team for the excellent food and service which made this a special evening. THANK YOU

Stayed 18/19 June! Really there's no excuse for running out of breakfast buffet food at 9:30am on a Sunday morning especially when breakfast doesn't finish till 10:30am! No air con in public areas so the whole place was sweltering when I stayed!

Large 70's style in an odd location. Areas I saw were spotless. Breakfast was ok Girl at check in a bit subdued didnt ask me on departure if I had a nice stay etc. Bedroom was dated but spotless. Shower was very poor with little volume of water. this is important in a hotel. Breakfast started at 7 which as... More

Stayed here a few times and while very basic the rooms are clean and the staff are pleasant. The bed is also comfy. The room can get very hot through the night even with the storage heating turned off. The windows are double glazed however because the hotel is right of the main road constant flowing traffic can be heard.... More

Stayed there for two nights with a work group recently...room was pretty basic but reasonably sized and clean...ditto en-suite bathroom...reception staff were nice...food at breakfast on day one was very poor...it appeared the food had been cooked at 7.00am and left sitting in warming dishes for two hours...and asking for freshly cooked eggs was not well received...needless to say I... I visited the Cairn Hotel for 4 nights during a training course in nearby Bathgate. It's a quaint hotel pictured right next to the busy A7066 not far from the M8 Motorway. It's an imposingly bland looking building from the outside but the rooms have a charming old fashioned appeal to them. The rooms themselves weren't overly stunning but practical,... More

Location : Most of our activities were in Edinburgh, but this hotel was ideal out of the city away from the hussle and bussle but only a 20 min drive back to Edinburgh. Rooms: Spacious, fresh and clean with free WiFi and my room had... More
