The house is beautifully sited, quiet and very comfortably furnished, very convenient for Tarbert and the ferries and exploring Harris; but what really makes this special is John and Marlene Mitchell - warm, welcoming, genuine and very helpful. The welcoming dram of whisky and sherry was just the start! And the breakfasts... the most important word on the menu is... More

Ceol Na Mara I stayed at the cookie jejune guesthouse on the 10th of July, well this is a lovely place which I recommend highly, it's very comfortable and spotlessly clean but it's the little things that make the difference, quality beds and bedding and attention to detail, home made bread etc and orange juice that came out of an... We stayed with John and Marlene for one night as part of a tour of Scotland. The homely touches like, a wee dram, locally made toiletries and shortbread add to the comfy bed, excellent breakfast and welcoming hosts.

This is the best bed and breakfast I have stayed in. I first stayed here 12 years ago and the high standard then has grown. The rooms are of a very high standard and you are welcomed with whisky and sherry in your room. The section of choice for breakfast is fantastic. The hosts John and Marlene could not do... More

We spent a couple of weeks in Scotland in May and stayed at a range of B&Bs and guest houses of which this was the best. Very welcoming hosts, fabulous breakfast, extremely comfortable rooms and good views. If visiting Harris well worth staying here.

We can't rave about Ceol na Mara enough. John gave us a really warm welcome on arrival, our room was very nicely decorated, comfortable, with spectacular views. The little welcome whisky was a nice touch. The showers were great, and the little touches like the Hebridean-made toiletries really added to a wonderful stay. Breakfast at Ceol na Mara is something... More

Harris is such a magical place anyway but staying at Ceol ne Mara is icing on the cake. John & Marlene are great hosts, the accommodation is spotless and breakfasts to die for. I was running a landscape photography workshop from Ceol na Mara and nothing was too much trouble. All my participants loved the Guest House - I'll definitely... More

Spent three nights at the Ceol na Mara Guest House (Blue Room) and thoroughly enjoyed John and Marlene's hospitality. They were very helpful and nothing was too much trouble. The Guest House is wonderfully positioned and the quality of hospitality, outstanding; breakfast was also outstanding.

My partner and I stayed here for 2 nights. Firstly, the personal touch from the owner John, when I inadvertedly booked the room before ensuring we could get on the ferry was marvellous. He advised that although the Uig to Tarbert sailing may be fully booked, there was another sailing from Ullapool to Stornaway (something I knew nothing off). He... More

Only a mile out of Tarbert a tiny road winds around a hillside and takes you to this lovely spot, set between lochs and hills. The house is spacious and guest accommodation in the luxury class. An enormous sitting room had views on two sides of the hills and lochs. Welcoming whisky and sherry decanters sat on our windowsill. The... More
