Viewfield House is an outstanding Victorian property in wooded, hillside gardens overlooking the bay at Portree (Skye's principal town). Its 20 acre estate (including a garden centre) is secluded but just twenty minutes walk south of the town centre. The MacDonald family have held a prominent place in the area for generations and it was the present owner's grandparents who...

Our group stayed two nights at Viewfield House and how sorry I am it was not for a longer period of time. This was our second year visiting Skye and staying at Viewfield House. It was perfect in all ways -- the hospitality, the accommodations, the exceptional food, and the staff. Definitely was the favorite lodging of the entire group...

I can only tell you I wish I didn't book the other stays for our trip in Scotland, so I could stay there one more night! This place is absolutely stunning, it has got everything: charm, quiet, great views, cozy rooms, nice breakfast, and what a location! An old big house overlooking the sea. Mind you, though: everything comes at...

I've stayed here twice, and both times were fantastic. The buildings and grounds are sumptuously appointed. The food is stellar. Even when the rooms are all full, I felt like we had the place to ourselves. The palatial location is only minutes from Portree and thus pretty central to the entire northern portion of the island. Make sure you eat...

Old word charm, great staff. Short walk from Portree City center. A full, Scottish breakfast came with our room. There was a launderette on property. And two sitting rooms, one with a fireplace for reading, one with a TV and videos. There is not a bar, the staff would come into the sitting rooms to see if you needed anything,...

We stayed at Viewfield House for three nights May 24 through May 26 2016. Our previous stay was in June of 2011 and we loved it so much we had to stay here again. It is a beautiful old 19th century Victorian House that has been maintained very well. The main entrance is large and beautiful. Viewfield House is about...

We had a wonderful stay at the Viewfield House last month. My husband, 1 year old son and i were traveling with my parents. We found everyone to be very friendly and welcoming. It feels like you're staying at someone's summer / weekend retreat. Every night the fireplace has a roaring fire, with the option of cocktails while you enjoy...

We spent a wonderfully memorable night here. An old fashioned, slightly eccentric place in the best tradition of Scottish hospitality. Has the feel of an Victorian/Edwardian country house, which is what it is, being run by the family who have lived there since the 19th century. Has 11 rooms, so it's pretty intimate. Do not expect what you would get...

I do not know what the other rooms looked like, but our room was nearly large enough to accommodate a tennis court. The bathroom had a tub and a shower, and the room itself had two desks. The beds were very comfortable. Breakfast were delicious. The town was a ten minute walk away. Dinners are available at the B&B and...
