This place was fabulous. Extremely clean and very comfortable. The owners could not have been more pleasant and accommodating. Wide range of excellent choices for breakfast. If you like kippers, this is the place to have them. They were excellent (and large). There is a complimentary "tot" of single malt in each room which is a nice touch. The owners explained it is officially classed as a "guest house" since it has only 4 bedrooms. Too big to be officially termed a B&B and too small to be called a hotel. It is only about a 5 minute drive from the ferry terminal in Tarbert. You could walk to if from the ferry terminal if you wanted to, but it is an uphill climb.

This was our first experience with a bnb and first impressions were sensational. The rooms are lovely and clean, very comfortable at home vibe. Our host has been very accommodating and obviously takes a great deal of pride in their home. Breakfast was wonderful with a variety of choices and Sam could not possibly have been more helpful. Highly recommend Ceol-Na-Mara as a wonderful place to stay in Skye. Thank you.

I am sharing my experience at this B&B. It will be long but really gives insight into the horrible treatment that I and my wife received and also the mentality of the caretakers. This B&B was booked by our tour company. Our tour leader dropped me and my wife at the Ceol-na-mara introducing me to the caretaker/owner who was the old guy. Strangely, the old guy did not even smiled and introduced himself to us. Therefore I don't know his name and I can not mention it here. He guided us to the room and asked for fixing the menu for the next day morning breakfast. He told us our breakfast will be arranged at 8 am. He did not mention any time band. Our tour leader had asked us to be ready by 9 am. I and my wife decided to take breakfast at 8.30 am as half-hour is more than enough to be on time. In the morning, around 8.30 am the same old guy knocked on our door saying breakfast was at 8 o'clock not at half-past eight. I said sorry but he walked away without listening to me. Very next minute we were at the breakfast room. He served with the food items that were decided last night. At 8.50 am I saw our tour bus coming. By that time I had finished my breakfast and went outside signalling the tour leader/guide. He said take your time, we are OK. To collect our bags, I moved towards our room. While opening the room door, I saw an old lady coming out of the kitchen. I smiled at her but she behaved like no one was there and walked out. When I was busy in taking our bags, my wife entered into our room. She was very angry and distressed. I asked what happened? She told me that old guy and lady went to her and angrily said 'These are bad manners. How can you eat here while everyone outside is waiting for you.' (We were the first in the morning to enter the bus). My wife replied 'it's still 8.55 am and we have time. We are within our time and managing well.' Some more conversation happened between them. My wife was having coffee during this conversation. At the very moment, she left her breakfast and headed towards our room. She could not bear their words and expressions. After telling all this in short, she went to the bus. The tour guide did not loose time in asking what happened to her. Meantime, I locked the room and walked towards the bus. As I was at the main door of the guest house, the old guy came and started following me up to the bus. When I entered the bus, I heard my wife was explaining the incidence to the tour guide. She was making her points. The old guy was standing at the bus door listening to what she was telling. Soon after she stopped, old guy said pointing to us 'Today your breakfast was at 8 o'clock. Tomorrow it will be at 7.30 in the morning' and he smashed the door on our face. He walked away. (is this sort of punishment?) At evening when we reached Ceol na mara, a long conversation happened between we and old guy. He started arguing and completely refused what happened in the morning. I told, for breakfast there is always a time band like 7-10am but he stubbornly said your slot was at 8am (it was scolding). He did not listen to anybody. I gave him money (from 2 nights) in cash and asked for a receipt. He could not provide me with the same. Earlier I refused to pay but as our tour leader was present I paid the amount. Finally, we took a decision to move out Ceol na mara and spent the night at the other B&B. Our points are - 1. How hosts/caretakers can give such cheap treatment to their customers? 2. They should not have commented on 'manners' we have (they showed their bad manners) and insulted us during breakfast and at the bus. They also did not care to apologise when we pointed it out. 3. If breakfast time is fixed why did they even served it at 8.30am? They could have refused to serve as time slot was passed. 4. If you have any feelings for a particular people, in the professional world you have to keep it to yourself. It should not come out of your tongue or expressed in any other way. I do not recommend this place to any of the people wanted to visit the Isle of Skye as I do not want other people to go through the same experience we did, and spoil your vacation.

Response from Roam751317, Owner at Ceol-na-Mara

On your arrival you were introduced by your tour guide in the normal manner when both your breakfast and pickup times were relayed to you which you blatantly ignored and turned up 30 minutes late the following morning, you then took offense at the importance of punctuality being explained to you in order for your tour to depart on time as you sat in the dining room with no regard for the inconvenience caused to your tour guide and fellow passengers who were all anxiously sitting on the coach waiting for you to appear. As clearly illustrated in your malicious rant these are not the writings of a serious genuine reviewer and amounts to what can only be seen as a childish immature tantrum, but as you approach maturity and progress through to "the old guy" and "old lady " phase of your life someday you may learn to curb your arrogance and show some consideration, respect, and appreciation for your fellow beings and understand that you can not do as you please all off the time.

We were put up here as part of a tour of isle of skye and we couldn’t have been happier the Host Sam was so friendly and accommodating. The room was comfortable and clean and had a lovely view of the bay. Breakfast was great and the host was excellent at remembering details about what we did and didn’t want for breakfast. The house is full of great little Knick-knacks and gnomes that add to the charm. It’s our first time visiting Scotland and we felt we got a great BNB experience here!
