Its location perched above the town overlooking the waters is terrific, with a lovely view from the dining room. Staff and Meg the dog were good throughout, as was the food. Parking was always available. However, although the rooms were clean, the curtains let in too much light for my liking, the shower was basic, and there was some noise from rooms above.
We have stayed here before a number of times and this was our best stay yet. The wonderful Brian and all the staff were helpful and charming. The food is now very good, delicious dinners and great choice at breakfast, and reasonably priced. There were one or two small hiccups in relation to our bedroom but the view made up for it. The decor of the hotel gives us great pleasure - in the main, old-fashioned and very comfortable, with lots of art, both traditional and contemporary, and a tremendous conservatory-style dining room with lots of glass to make the most of the wonderful views. We'll be back.
Thoroughly enjoyed our stay here- amazing views, delicious food and great, friendly staff. Owen’s cocktails caused a few hangovers due to the fact one or two just wasn’t enough! Thanks to everyone who made our first outing in a long time so enjoyable.
We arrived after a long day of travelling and it turned out Booking.com had cancelled our booking without telling us. The receptionist as the Western Isles was amazing and organised some complimentary drinks while she tried to sort out some accommodation for us. The fault was nothing to do with the Western Isles Hotel, completely booking.com’s fault, however the receptionist phoned through every hotel in Tobermory and found us a lovely room in a cottage up the road as the Western Isles was fully booked. From our short interaction with the staff I’d imagine it’s a great place to stay and you’ll be very well looked after.
We stayed in the 1st floor and enjoyed the most incredible views over the bay. What a wonderful way to start the day!! The room was a great size with a very large double/king bed. Room was also very clean and contained everything needed for a comfortable stay. Service was also excellent. Breakfast was good, as was dinner in the hotel restaurant. Just next to the restaurant, we also made use of the outdoor terrace to sit with drinks, whilst enjoying the sunshine and the views. The hotel had plenty of parking and was only a 5 mins or so walk into the town (downhill, just bear in mind that it is then back up the hill to get back!). This was not a problem. Really pleased that we booked this hotel.
