Beautiful location, friendly staff, comfortable rooms, just a really good place to stay. Sat for 20 minutes watching the ducks wander around, before I set off. The island has to be visited to appreciate how great it is.

I first had a large, easily accessible disability-friendly ground - floor bedroom then moved to an upstairs shared bedroom with great views. Both were clean, warm and comfortable, en - suite with good facilities. The breakfasts were served in the dining -room which looked over the loch and surrounding hills and the cooked breakfasts were as good as the enjoyable...

I enjoyed staying at Doune Braes. Found all the staff to be very friendly and helpful. Nothing was a problem to them. We had a lovely ceilidh on the Friday night which went with a great swing. My wife and I were veryu happy with our room. Doune Braes is clean and tidy hotel.

Doune Braes Hotel was available on the dates we needed and was in a lovely location. However, we found that for the B&B rates charged this was a very "average" hotel. Rooms and beds were OK but dated and well used. Staff were friendly and helpful but both for breakfast and dinner the restaurant service and food was poor to...

We booked for 2 nights in the suite (which wasn't cheap) and it was so disappointing we didn't even stop for breakfast after 1 night! It was so bad it was funny ... a cross between the horror film the 'shining' and faulty towers. At dinner we were excepting John Clees to appear at any time ... in our room...

The hotel is situated about 10 mins away from Callenaish and 5 mins from Carloway Broch. There is a good sized car park and reasonable wifi. My room was decent enough and clean, nice views over the water. Breakfast was nice, a mix of self service and menu. The staff were all helpful and pleasant and the price was average...

Visited here for dinner. Inside of the hotel looked fine. Staff were attentive and polite. We ordered two main courses, which were cooked very quickly. First main of fish and chips was tasty, however, I suspect the fish was frozen not fresh. Second main course was miserly. For instance, the chicken was accompanied by a lonely looking veg selection (I.e....

I flew into Stornoway and drove to this hotel on a Sunday because I knew most places would not be open on the Hebrides on a Sunday. It was the perfect location between Stornoway and Harris (where I would be staying for 2 nights). And..the restaurant is open on Sunday! :-) It is easy to find. The property has some...

We called here for lunch and were welcomed in the bar along with our dog. Excellent home made burger and chips - great value, friendly locals happy to chat. The dog was paid a great deal of attention - which she loved. I can't comment on the accommodation as we only called for lunch.

Arrived here on a cycling trip - frenzied midge attack had caused abandonment of camping plans (apparently 2016 has been a particularly bad year for that!). Got in late, leaving early, hadn't budgeted for an unexpected hotel bill, but the lovely staff gave us the last room at a really terrific rate on condition we spent at the bar. My...
