We loved our time camping at Kintra Farm, after initially planning a two night stay we ended up staying for the week. Bagged a fabulous spot overlooking the beach, camping among the dunes means lots of sheltered spots and privacy. It is neither wild camping nor a campsite, so don't compare it to either and take it as you see... More

our family stayed in the Machair cottage and had a great stay, what a location 50 yrds from the beach, the view from our lounge was fantastic in all weathers, The owner made us welcome and was available if we needed her , this being an island you have to expect things like poor wifi and mobile signal but it... This campsite is in a beautiful location - however, as far as I can see that is the only reason to stay here. We have a motorhome, and wanted a place to fill up with water and empty the loo before boarding a ferry to Arran, so decided to stay the night - mostly we wild camp. They have standpipes,... More

We caught the late ferry to Islay and with Kintra being the closest campsite (of only 2 on the island) to Port Ellen, we decided to trek our camper van down the track to the farm. As we arrived late, we were to pay in the morning and find a place ourselves. The setting couldn't be faulted. Absolutely stunning beside... More

A beautiful location and a large campsite! Lovely sandy beach. Plenty of wildlife. The downside... Only one shower in the ladies and one in the men's. The shower/toilet area isn't that clean and is definitely in need of renovation! It's tiny - I found it very hard to wash. This the same for the toilets. However There's a disabled shower... More

Reviews for Kintra seem to be roughly divided: those that have encountered Mrs Mactaggart (poor ratings) and those that haven't (excellent ratings). The location is fantastic, which Mrs M knows. This is the only reason her business model hasn't failed, because on grounds of customer service, anywhere else and she would have gone out of business. But with pointed finger... More

We were a party of two families, one in a house and one camping. Our experience was mixed. Price - for the house was very reasonable though electricity is NOT included. Camping seems to be disproportionately expensive. Moreso if you have a camper. The owner has a rather worn page from a camping mag showing a variety of sizes and... More

We stayed in Muran. For the price, you couldn't ask for anything more. It was a little basic, the shower and the bed for example but I am not complaining at all. And our hosts were extremely helpful and welcoming. The situation of this cottage on Islay is unrivalled, the view incredible and the peace and quiet just what we... More

After reading some of the enthusiastic reviews I e mailed the owner to book a night there with our small Motorhome. I was told they had fresh water which was all we really need. However, on arrival, there was no one there at all to greet us. We were immediately put off by all the rules and regulations that were... More

Me and my wife spent there two nights because all B&Bs on Islay were full when we contacted them those days (what a surprise ;-)). We needed a shower after some wild camping. This place has a really nice location. You can watch sunset from your tent or the beach and listen to the waves whole night. My wife had... More
