I have stayed here a few times for work and a couple of times my husband and dog have joined us. The rooms are very comfortable with great en suite facilities. Food is of a very high standard with plenty to choose. We have eaten from the menu and specials, last night we had pizza. Wow. Very filling and yummy.... More

This was my first visit to Islay over a very stormy 5 days. The hotel is just round the corner from the ferry port although check where the ferries are sailing from as on our departure we had to leave from Port Askaig instead of Port Ellen because of the high winds. ( A journey of 40 minutes instead of... More

My wife and I stayed here for 2 nights. the room we had was clean, comfortable and had everything that we needed. Breakfast was delicious with a choice of cereals, yoghurt, fruit and a nice choice of hot food on the menu. We ate here on the 2nd night and were pleasantly surprised with the quality of the food. the taste... More

I got a room overlooking the bay which is an absoloute delight to wake up to. This along with a comfy bed and well furnished clean room also made it a nice stay. However, this is where it ends. At £130 for a B&B basis you're paying top dollar, to be perfectly honest you can stay in a luxury hotel... More

This is the third time I've stayed at The Islay Hotel. It's in a great location, right on the main corner in "downtown" Port Ellen, less than a couple hundred meters from the Port Ellen ferry terminal. It's also a mile from Laphroaig, a mile and a half from Lagavulin and about two and a half miles from Ardbeg. With... More

Long dreamt of a trip to Islay, and finally got the chance. After some research, we decided to stay at the Islay, and we're very glad we did. First, the location is perfect. The 3 main distilleries we wanted to visit: Laphroaig, Ardbeg, and Lagavulin; are all close by. Also, the ferry terminal (provided you take the Kennacraig-Port Ellen route)... More

We didn't stay in the hotel but have eaten in it several times. Food is delicious and the hotel accommodates dogs in the downstairs bar. Service great every time we've visited. So far our favourite place to eat on the island.

Very nice hotel close to the ferry. Room very nice spacious, newly decorated thus clean ..breakfast good. Everything very good just not exceptional ..couple of bulbs out in bathroom and therefore no wow factor which for me at £200 per night is something I would expect. Our room was back facing so no sea views but that did not bother... More

The Islay hotel has been renovated quite recently and is very close to the ferry in Port Ellen. My room was large and comfortable with a modern bathroom and a view into the village. Staff were welcoming and friendly. Breakfast was fine though not exceptional but the food in the restaurant in the evening was very good though perhaps a... More

We stayed in room number 14. It is a HUGE room with lots of space to relax. There is a wonderful big bed and great views from both of the windows, it also has a loo with a view!! We found the hotel clean, freshly decorated and friendly. Great food and an impressive selection of whisky too!! We would definitely... More
