The Trout Fly Guest House is an outstanding B&B. The location is good, in the heart of Port Ellen. About 2 minutes of walk to shops and restaurants. Free parking on the street. Clean and fresh rooms and a large lounge available for guests available both day and night. The breakfast is the best I have had at a B&B.... More

Our holiday to Islay was in doubt because of a ferry cancellation but local knowledge and community connections from our hosts Niall and Linda saved the day. Niall went beyond expectations and personally met us at the ferry and we were on our way with a hire car and enjoying the exceptional hospitality of the Troutfly. We were so impressed... More

Exceptionally friendly hosts. Warm information welcome with an opportunity to check in early and informative, which made planning our day ( including walking/ biking to the distilleries) an option.Great location in port Ellen - walking distance from the ferry and only 4 miles from the airport. The motel is in the perfect location for having a little walk in Port Ellen. A convenience store, a bar and restaurants are close by. Parking is no problem. The rooms are homely and perfectly clean, the furniture looked rather new, and the beds were really comfortable. The breakfast is amazing, and the owner (her name is Mary) is incredibly... More

While many people have given this bnb a 4 or 5 star rating, after having travelled around the west coast for a week, I'm giving the bnb a 3 star rating for predominantly because this was the priciest bnb we stayed in however furnishings were somewhat dated compared to the others we went to, and the bathroom, while available for... A friend and I stayed at the Trout Fly for several nights last week - it's a lovely little B&B, central for Port Ellen; quiet; clean; epic breakfasts; and Mary is awesome. She even ran us out to Laphroaig when we asked her for taxi info. Can't recommend this place highly enough.

Spent one night with friends/family during our whisky trip to Scotland. Mary (owner) is super friendly (like coming home to your granny). We had all three rooms and therefore the whole place to our selves. Highly recommended. (ask for instruction on the shower, a bit different than usual)
