I stayed here with my wife last week. The hotel is a very old building, which is not surprising given its location. However, I have to say that we enjoyed our stay. The food and the service was first class, I recommend it to you if you are on the island. The staff work very hard to make you welcome.

Genuine and incredibly lovely and charming. The staff treat you as though you are a guest in their own house. Rooms are cosy and warm, fresh seafood straight out of the sea and a top whiskey selection. You will want to come back here!!

The views from all angles at various times of day were wonderful. Such an interesting port, good facilities ,fuel pumps open (nearly) to order. Staff friendly and very helpful. Choice of eating in bar, snug or restaurant all meals were excellent with plenty of choice.

Susan thank you so much for taking the time to review your stay. We are so fortunate in our location both in terms of natural beauty but also our proximity to the harbour where the daily catch is landed and very often taken straight to our kitchen and prepared for our guest's plates. Being fairly remote we do try to... More

Just appalling in almost every way. Should be closed down by health and safety. What unsuspecting foreign visitors must think I have no idea. It's only redeeming features are its location and the bar which had a good atmosphere. The pictures of the rooms speak for themselves. Terrible.

I read your review with a great deal of cynicism as you do not mention which room you stayed in or what or where you ate. The photographs on our web sire are not all up to date and I suspect that you are in cahoots with some of our competition - you should note that your comments are mainly... More

After reading mixed reviews about the hotel I wasn't surprised by the standard of decor. Yes it is a bit tired , but the building is old and has its own quirky charm. The rooms my family had were clean and comfortable. The view from our room was amazing, and I passed a pleasant afternoon sitting in the beer garden watching... More

I've stayed here every year since 2011, always the same quiet and friendly place. Seafood is very good, bedrooms are clean , some with a great view on Jura. Good location if you arrive or leave with the ferry.

OK it's not grand, but it's clean and full of interesting and quirky artefacts. We met some interesting people, including one couple who had been coming for 25 years and were greeted by the staff with genuine affection. All of the staff were very friendly and we enjoyed our stay. The room was quite basic but contained everything we required. The... More

although the hotel smacks of Fawlty Towers it's in a good way. Yes it's expensive for what you get, yes the decor feels (and is) tired, yes, yes, yes. BUT to into the residents lounge (then work to get past the sense that you've walked into an old folks home and look out of the window to the amazing views... More

Don't expect London [ even London has Hotels which are not excellent ! ]. Accept this Hotel for what it is : 1970s' comfy. Room quite spacious & well-appointed [ but no TV!!] & with excellent view of coasts and of ferries plying their trade. Breakfasts a bit slow and Spartan. Dinners excellent if you don't want Gourmet Cuisine. Establishment... More

Was certainly overpriced with a £130 / 150 price tag, but it ensures a room was available for reservation when we were desperate for it. We couldn't get a car to drive out of the port and it was quite late. Staff of very polite and let us use their phone to book another accommodation inland. Breakfast and dinner were... More

Thank you for the review - glad we were able to help. Our prices reflect the cost of living on an island and the carriage we have to pay on everything from a grain of salt to a barrel of beer. Were you to have done more research I am certain you would find that many of the island hotels... More
