Charles and Fergus went above and beyond to ensure that we enjoyed our stay, despite some weather-related challenges. You couldn't find any better hospitality in all of Scotland, and a delicious breakfast beside.

Fergus and Charles run an excellent bed and breakfast. The beds are comfortable, the breakfasts excellent and the welcome genuine . Little touches abound:- a wide selection of teas at all times, first class John Lewis towels and face flannels ( often missing in 4 star hotels), an eclectic set of exports at breakfast, plenty of books to read. Wi fi is quick... More

I was disappointed with my stay at An Cuan for the cost. It started with being allocated a twin bed room despite booking a double. The breakfast situation is also a challenge - the room and the table is nowhere near large enough for all the guests, making the whole process feel very awkward. When the owner casually asks what... Spent three nights here in August. B&B was OK. Rooms were perhaps a little small almost trying to fit too much into small rooms. Breakfast OK although certainly not everyone's cup of tea in terms having one big table and having to talk to other guests.

We were on a cycling trip around the inner Hebrides and required good B and B accommodation with good restaurants nearby. Isaly was a difficult island to find reasonably priced accommodation and in our whole trip this was the most expensive stay. The host was welcoming and had undercover accommodation for our bikes. The room was very small and the... More

Fergus and Charles were perfect hosts on our 8 day sojourn in Islay. Charles makes gourmet Scramble eggs on toast;worth killing for ! Except the patchy and moody WiFi it was a perfect experience. The location is just spot on.

Charles and Fergus were lovely hosts: effervescent, delightful and welcoming. They were in touch from the moment I made the booking, offering to help and recommending places to visit, and were just as nice in person, taking time to show us maps of the island. The room was lovely (with a sea view no less) and so warm and comfortable.... More

Stayed one night at An Cuan - everything was great from start to finish. Fergus was always available by phone when I enquired about booking and when letting him know about our arrival. We had a very warm welcome from Charles and good advice on where to eat locally. Rooms were comfortable, fixtures all good quality, bathroom large and everything... More

We spent three nights at An Cuan while on a tour of the Islay distilleries. Fergus was a gracious host and shared his knowledge of Islay with recommendations for dining and hiking options. Rooms were small but well-appointed. Breakfast was delicious and plentiful. The wet room was a new concept for us and it took several attempts to adjust the... More
