My husband and I stayed at the Lochside for three nights in mid to late November. We would not hesitate to stay here again. The hotel was charming as well as clean and comfortable. Our room was on the top floor with a great view across Loch Indaal (room 9). The rooms and bathrooms are not large but are in-line... More

My husband and I planned to tour the Outer Hebrides and all the Islands when he took early retirement back in 2015. He died a week after retiring of Sepsis. I made the decision to make this journey a year later by myself but for the both of us. Although scared, and very apprehensive I drove the whole journey by... More

I agree with the previous reviews, that the bedroom is a bit small, but still adequate, and higher priced than hotels on the mainland for similar quality, however this hotel was full. The restaurant is very busy at all times, and booking in advanced is essential. You won't be disappointed by the quality and wide range of local produce, something... More

We had the most beautiful lunch here, The food was freshly cooked, the Lentil soup was like I had never tasted before and the fish and chips were superb. The restaurant and bar were beautifully decorated and spotlessly clean and the staff were so interested in why we were on Islay, where came from and were generally so chatty -... More

Tiny but stylish room and bathroom. Great food at the Restaurant. The bar is cosy and has an opulent selection of Islay Whiskies (not cheap though). The staff is outrageous and has fullfilled every wish. You were so nice - thank you!

We stayed here for 3 nights at the end of September and found the hotel to be a good base whilst we explored Islay. All the staff were very friendly and helpful and very willing to give helpful travel advice. We ate in the hotel restaurant on 2 evenings and had lovely food although on the first evening the restaurant... More

Room 2 was incredibly small for the cost (£140/night), and was priced at the same rate as other double rooms, which were 2-3 times the size! Nowhere to put your suitcases / clothes and the bathroom door would not fully open as the bed was in the way. On the plus side, Angela and the rest of the staff were... More

Ended up staying here for one night as the ferries were cancelled. The good things - the view from the room across the loch was great, the room was clean, the bed was comfy. Breakfast was good. Wifi mostly worked. The staff at breakfast were helpful and attentive. The bad things - the room was incredibly small, without enough space... More

I booked this hotel early this year even though there were mediocre ratings for the rooms. But it was the only place that was affordable for a five night stay in mid-august. Long story short - forget about all the reviews that say 'great bar and restaurant, but don't stay there...' YES, bar and restaurant are great, as is the... More
