Came here with friends who live in the area. We sat in the bar area which was cosy and homely. The food was delicious - my husband chose the steak pie which he said had the best gravy he has had in a steak pie, I chose the pork dijonnaise which was absolutely gorgeous. Would definitely visit again.

Popped into this hotel on the high street of Biggar for a spot of a pub lunch and was pleasantly surprised - warm welcome with great service and tasty food too, what more could I ask for? I opted for the cheese burger and it was clear that quality ingredients were used then spotted the tables around us had ordered fish and chips & I had food envy - it looked crispy and moreish. Next time when I go back I will need to try it. This wee place not only has charm with history but good food to boot.

Booked to stay for a couple of nights in Biggar. As it was out of season the hotel was quite quiet so we were delighted to be given a family room at the back of the hotel for us plus our dog. Room was spacious, modern and well decorated. Bed was comfy and bathroom was ideal. Lots of storage space and a couple of chairs. Breakfast was excellent. Bar and outer restaurant were a bit character-less but main restaurant appeared recently decorated.

I just loved this little piece of Scottish hospitality. Our stay was warm, friendly and relaxed. We went to a wedding at Cornhill castle, which was amazing. But it was really nice to come back to our room at the Elphinstone Hotel. Sat night was really busy as they had a function as well as the restaurant bookings were full so I'm glad we had booked in for dinner and the food was amazing. Breakfast was extremely hearty and we had an early breakfast the day of the wedding and thank god it was "hearty" as it sustained us ALL day as the wedding dinner was about 6pm. We had a problem in our room and within 10 mins of us informing the team, our issue was resolved and the poor family member couldn't have apologized enough bless him. The team were warm and welcoming and I would definitely recommend this coaching Inn hotel. So thanks everyone and as Arnie Schwartzenegger I would say "I'll be back" hopefully by then I would have learnt how to spell Schwarzenegger. Thank you and big hugs

The hotel is very laid back and staff are super helpful. The breakfast was lovely and the rooms are big and clean! Only negative was the noise from the bar and outside the hotel keep me awake past 1am (was a Saturday night) The hotel was very apologetic however if youre looking for an earlier night then i would recommend staying away from room 1 and 2 as they are at the front and above the bar. I would definitely come back to stay in those nearer the back. Thanks again to the staff, and the lovely man from breakfast who profusely apologised for the disturbance.

The food was good and service also good but was let down by the dire state of the men’s toilet - haven’t been somewhere so smelly and in need of a deep clean in 20 years ! This made the whole experience not worthwhile. An easy thing to fix - please please fix it

My partner and I stumbled across here while out for a drive whilst staying at Peebles for a few days. Rather then drive back for dinner we thought we would try here. It was around half four and the barman said meals don’t start till five and we could wait which we did while having a drink and selecting from the menu. I had a vegan burger and my partner had a bacon chop both of which were delicious and plentiful. Excellent value. If your looking for a traditional pub to eat I would definitely recommend here if you are in the area.
