We have just enjoyed the most wonderful girls weekend at Glenapp, celebrating our friends 50th. The castle is just beautiful but the service is what makes it really magical. We felt like VIPs from the moment we arrived (by sleeper coach overnight). We were greeted by a piper, champagne and beautiful pastries, and were shown down to the glasshouse for a perfume-making morning. The grounds are fabulous and nothing was too much trouble. We enjoyed a lovely three course dinner then the staff opened up the glasshouse for us so we could have a dance and laugh in our own private Victorian disco (without disturbing other guests). Day two was a foraging activity around the grounds, then a run down through the woods and waterfalls, to the ocean where we all had a dip in the sea, before the castle came to collect us in their minibus! We then all dressed up for a delicious tasting menu in the Library, and more dancing in the glasshouse. There are too few adjectives to describe this gem in Scotland. But suffice to say we felt in entirely safe hands, thoughout the planning stages and our entire stay. We will be back! Thank you Glenapp for a truly awesome weekend.

We've just had a 2 night stay and everything was really spot on. All the staff are friendly and you could tell that all of them really wanted to "deliver". We had a fab dinner on both evenings and the location of the hotel is just beautiful. Thanks to Louise and also to the lovely Portuguese manager (sorry.....can't remember his name) who gave us great recommendations for a drive in the nearby countryside, including the Mull of Galloway, Logan botanical gardens and Portpatrick which added to the experience. Would love to go back one day.

Amazing location and incredible service with great staff and as for the food - wow!!! Couldn’t fault any of these and having been a couple of times, have never been disappointed. This time we noted a few issues which surprised us given the normal high standards. And while these points may appear to be picky, they can all be resolved with a little extra care and attention. A rug in the room was slightly concerning as a potential trip hazard as every time we walked over it, it moved and creased up creating a ripple effect and we had to fix it for fear of tripping. The seal on the shower door was worn and was instantly noted. There were dead insects on the window sills and the blinds in the bathroom could have been cleaner. And one of the air vents at the windows was broken too. Such a shame that these things were noted. But all can be easily fixed. The grounds are lovely and while some recent works have taken place, they could be improved to reflect the work on the building and the overall feel of the hotel. We can appreciate the grounds are vast but they could be landscaped to a higher standard in the immediate grounds, which would match the warmth and efforts of all staff inside the hotel, thereby creating a truer 5 star experience.

On arrival at the secluded entrance your granted entry to the grounds and by the time you arrive at the front of the hotel there is someone to guide you where to park, collect your luggage if you wish and a member of the management team to greet you and show you to your room. In short it makes you feel special and a welcome guest from the get go. The hotel was lovely, very well decorated, friendly staff (not overly just the right level), wonderful food, service was faultless. Grounds are very nice and have walks so that you can explore and enjoy. We had breakfast and dinner in the main hotel and lunch & afternoon teas in the glasshouse. The food is so very clearly of high quality and expertly prepared, we personally could not fault it. This is a location where you can relax and the underlying ethos of the hotel and its staff support this…there are activities available if you want to do those, there are always staff discreetly there to cater to refreshments or questions etc etc. Like all hotels not everyone will like everything and not everyone behaves and reacts in the same way but that’s what makes guests human and what makes a great hotel stand out by the way this is managed, and this hotel manages everything which is very nice to see. Things that made us chuckle were the fact we only realised we should have had a room key when they asked for it on checkout and that although we were told to telephone for anything we wanted bringing to the room we never found the phone and finally when asked to call down when we needed our luggage collecting I had to ask where the phone was…because there was not one in the room. I guess it had been removed for repair :) Our first visit but I have already been recommending to many friends that they should plan a stay.

A really lovely place to stay and worth the price especially if you have a sea view room although the grounds are lovely too. We particularly loved the Victorian glass house for lovely lunch and the best cream scones! Dinner and breakfast very good too and the staff really can’t do enough for you. Fab room and bathroom - my only criticism is that the bedding is cotton rather than Egyptian cotton which I would have expected in a hotel of this calibre.
