Booked this as treat for partner, lunch and DBB as highly recommended. On arrival luggage taken and quickly checked in at front hall, escorted to our room in the lower floors Poor natural lighting due to situation but room pleasant enough, bathroom old style, but various things could do with a refurb, shower good, quality toiletries. Lunch was good, pleasantly presented, but in a souless atmosphere. We enjoyed hiking through the grounds and surrounding area. At dinner the food was pleasant, but again flat atmosphere The staff were helpful and went out of their way to detail each course. Wine list was extensive, but not cheap. At night the beauty of this place came into its own, the rooms were breathlessly quiet and a walk outside showed the beauty of the skies. There are no facilities in the room and if you wish coffee you ring service. In the morning breakfast was reasonable, quickly served, but again lacking atmosphere. Overall a pleasant but expensive experience, more effort could be made to ensure guests experience the Glen App difference, whatever that may be. Probably a four, but public rooms were outstanding.

Stayed to attend a wedding. Beautiful old castle In a lovely setting. We stayed in the glenapp room which I have to say was perfectly comfortable and charming but not the luxury I was expecting for the price paid although I was impressed by the penhaligon toiletries. Other rooms were far nicer and more grander than ours so I do feel that we should have been charged less as a result to reflect this and perhaps options should have been given at time of booking. Part of the shower handle in the rather dated bathroom also fell off during showering which I had to screw back on. Also went up to the room before check out to discover staff clearing it and my toiletry bag had been sent to reception! We were well within the time and I still had the key so not sure what that was about but was awkward so didn’t get to brush my teeth. There was also a flood onto the garden at one point which apparently was some water tank. When I first saw it I though oh lovely a fountain but no was pouring down from the roof. Beautiful setting, grounds are lovely for walking around and the breakfast was very nice but I do not think what they charge for the stay is justified.

We stayed for one night at Glenapp and had dinner in the sumptuous dining room with its amazing views over the coast. Everything about the hotel was first class: our suite; public areas; dinner; and breakfast. The staff were very efficient, welcoming and knowledgable. We will return for a longer stay.

We have taken our guests to Glenapp castle for a day trip. View of Ailsa Craig is beautiful from the castle. Such a fancy place. Staff are very polite and friendly. We walked at the castle garden's after our lunch. It was delicious. We will be back again in December.

Beautiful position in lovely grounds. They offer dog friendly rooms but felt more like dog tolerance not friendly! Dogs not allowed in main entrance so enter via back door and then the list of rules was frightening!! Our spaniel is very good and we have never had an issue travelling with him but the rules eg. Dirty paw print £25 fine made us very nervous!!! Based on this you would expect them to leave a dog towel but no thankfully I always carry one! We put do not disturb on the door as requested when leaving the dog for us to eat but we were approached 3 times during dinner to ask if they could service the room !! Food nice and service was good although the use of ear radios by waiting staff meant they were often distracted when taking orders so lacked the personal touch.

Met at the door on arrival and were offered valet parking. Genuine welcome from the young lady at reception. Were shown to a table in the Castle. Excellent selection of leaf teas. The sandwiches, brioch rolls and wraps were served first. Clotted cream scones with jam and cakes followed after a short break Highly attentive staff. Was encouraging to feel that the members of staff were happy to be working at Glenapp. We accepted the offer of a take home bage for the scones that we saved for after. Were encouraged to view the Castle and the extensive grounds and we were fortunate that the weather was kind. Will definitely return another day

Accommodation was beautiful as was the castle grounds. The food and service was faultless, the only downside was on my third and final night I discovered the castle is haunted. Yup I got my ass haunted at the cost of a £3000 stay.

Glenapp is more than beautiful, well maintained, receptive, unique and worthy. While it is all of these and more what we most enjoyed was the Sea Safari. This was a spectacular experience that put us on uninhabited beautiful small islands with historical ruins, beauty, and on island a superb distillery. Will and his crew could not have been more engaging and accommodating. These are first class people to be sure. Another unique memory is speaking with Paul the owner who has a give-back social mission in all his ventures. This is not the venue to retell but Paul has made much possible for many people both locally and in impoverished areas abroad. We left with some of our best travel memories and a favorable impression for what can be done by those who are capable of sharing.

This property is extraordinary. The castle grounds is extensive and dramatic with old trees and views of the ocean. This was our second stay. I left feeling underwhelmed this time. Our room was only ok, one floor below previous. Fireplace didn't seem to work, you needed three hands to unlock the door. Common area carpets were showing wear. Art seemed less inspired than before? I doubt they changed it. Dinner service was very slow both nights. Staff was everywhere and courteous. This was our favorite Scottish hotel years ago. Maybe I should have asked for a different room.

Dear Vailite I am sorry to learn that you your stay with us this time was underwhelming and I would welcome the opportunity to discuss this with you in more detail if I may? We greatly value repeat business to Glenapp Castle and it is disappointing to read that you did not feel this way during your most recent stay with us. We have been investing a great deal in the property over the past few years (including through the pandemic) and continue to do so. I will follow up with you offline on this as it would be helpful to discuss your feedback in more detail. Kind regards Will Oakley General Manager

What an incredible and magical stay we had at Glenapp Castle. Every single member of the team are exceptional and without doubt a credit to the management team. From the moment we arrived at the gate, we were made to feel extremely special by everyone, which shows fantastic training, but it also takes something within the team, to do it so effortlessly. It made absolutely no difference whatsoever whether a guest was a millionaire , or had saved up for a while to be able to stay, everyone was treated like a VIP. I can’t think of a better compliment than that for Glenapp. We certainly hope to see you again.
