Some previous reviews have highlighted old rooms, peeling paintwork and worn carpets. These faults are all accurate so if you base a hotel stay with these in mind don't go. This is an old hotel (1812) and the rooms are in need of refurbishment but for all that they were clean with good towels and linen. We loved the quirky... More

My sister and I stayed at the Anchorage last night, we had a deal. We had a lovely time, the restaurant is fabulous, both food and service. Our room was lovely, fantastic views from the window. The breakfast was really good and the staff were lovely. I know the rooms are a bit tired but we couldn't fault what was... More

Booked this through wowcher which we've done many times for other hotels. Staff were lovely and the food was very good this includes breakfast and the evening meals. We were supposed to get wine with our meal but that never came so told reception and it was delivered to the room. We asked for a hair dryer and got one... More

My Wife and I stayed for 2 nights on a "Wowcher Voucher" deal, the room was comfortable with the bed the same. We had a problem with the cold water in the room no toilet flush! this was rectified by maintenance. We had booked drinks to our room but on check out we were told this had been removed due to... We enjoyed a two night break and really didn`t expect the room with a four poster bed and suite with sea views. The breakfasts were generous and the evening meal also very good. Lovely staff made us feel very welcome.

We booked this hotel via a wowcher offer. Which we have done at hotels in other places. Of which we have throughly enjoyed.and had lovely rooms . The staff were lovely, helpful and friendly. The food was delicious. And the history of the inn was fascinating. But the room was a huge let down. It desperately needs redecorating, the paper... More

Stayed here for our anniversary. Got a good deal on go groupie. Over night stay with breakfast and wine on arrival £39. First off the building looks lovely from outside. When we checked in we were not offered our already mentioned wine on arrival. When I did eventually ask about it I was told you get it with your meal... More

Good hearty pub grub in traditional pub setting. Not expensive and large range of food to choose from. Basics covered and portions large. Basic and tasty without any frills'. Service was good and all dishes came to table quickly.
