This charming hotel has cabin-like rooms with harbor views. Don't skip the restaurant for dinner - the very best part. Absolutely delicious gourmet meals, reasonably priced. The staff is courteous and aims to please. The lobster with ginger is great, still dreaming about that, also the pork belly with pickled onions is wonderful. Breakfast is so so, standard fare, would... More

I stayed for one night in one of the chalets. The room was a bit tired but clean and with a comfortable bed that gave me a good nights sleep. Met a smiling member of staff on my arrival and got my room even though I arrived several hours early. The chalets are situated so that instead of a nice... More

During a trip to the Shetland Isles I had the opportunity to stay at this hotel on the Shetland Isle of Unst. I stayed in a cabin which was great, spotless, and well maintained. It has recently changed hands and I cannot extol the virtues of all the staff, I wont name any, but they were all friendly in a... More

We stayed here for one night last week on the recommendation of friends who had stayed there four years ago. I booked the room back in March & paid a deposit. On arriving on unst we did the usual touristy things & talked to several islanders. When we said where were staying we were met with stony silences....some ventured "it's... More

We stayed in the chalets out in the garden, they were cosy, clean and comfortable. it was a busy weekend as it was the regatta and start of unstfest so we were advised to book the restaurant when we checked in. It was really worth it, best food we have eaten in Shetland! only downside was the WIFI only worked... More

Stayed here for 2 nights with Shetland Wildlife group. All of the group enjoyed our stay here and commented on how friendly and helpful the staff were. My room was ensuite, lovely and warm (great heating), quiet and very comfy bed after a busy day birding. Water pressure and heat were good, no problems. Can see the shower might be... More

I visited the Baltasound hotel in July and find it hard to believe some of the fairly recent positive reviews. I was due to spend 5 nights there but along with my travelling companions left a night early due to the unpleasant atmosphere at the hotel. I had stayed at Baltasound Hotel in 2015 when it was under different management... More

I stayed at Baltasound hotel 2 weeks ago. My 2 nights were part of a Shetland Wildlife Holidays package. The midweek visit to Unst was facilitated by the hotel. I found my chalet to be perfectly fine. It was quiet and comfortable. The evening meal (Shetland lamb one night and fish the next) was first rate and the DIY breakfast... More

Arrived on bicycles for 2 days' stay. We had not found any other available B&B accommodation on Unst. Rooms are chalets close to the main building; clean and adequate but somewhat small. Bar acts as the local pub; it's a typical rural Scottish place i.e. basic but friendly enough, with local bottled beer available. Food somewhat pretentious and overpriced -... More

Really disappointed with this place. They cancelled my booking the day before my arrival!! Fortunately the Saxa Vord Resort a few miles north of Baltasound had room for me but it was £50 dearer!! From what I have heard though I was better off there as the Baltasound Hotel is getting very poor reviews at the moment. However there was... More
