Stopped for coffee in this family hotel. Owner surprised us with fresh coffee and homemade pies and cakes. Had a nice chat. Hotel looked a bit dated but breathes atmosphere. Five out of five would go there again.

Stayed here for a few nights on business and quite pleased with the hotel. Probably like most Shetland hotels it is quite secluded but has some excellent areas around it for hiking and bird watching etc. Do not be put off by first appearance as it is in an open area and has had to put up with the weathering... We only stayed here for a night, but wished we stayed for a whole weekend at least! The rooms were very clean and comfortable, the atmosphere was great, and the staff were kind and welcoming. We had a delicious dinner (starter, main course and dessert!), and one of the best breakfasts around Shetland. Absolutely worth a visit if you are... More

Very good photographic opportunities all around this fantastic Hotel. The food was most excellent, the Steak and chips was very good, service was very prompt and staff polite. The Volcanic cliffs at Eshaness are stunning and walks are plentiful. The rooms in the hotel are currently being upgraded to a very high standard.

If you are looking for a hotel with personality, great location, sea view, lovely food, large and cozy rooms, and friendly and service minded staff, I would recommend staying at St. Magnus Bay Hotel. We stayed there for one night and we had a wonderful time. The Hillswick shop and the bus stop is just across the road, beach nearby,... More

Stayed here on a short business trip. The building looks a bit ragged from the outside but this location gets battered by the winter storms. Inside it's a welcoming place. Clean room with a good view over St Magnus Bay. Great staff and the food is outstanding. The Sunday carvery is excellent and a must if a weekend break is... More

I have just spent a week at the St Magnus bay hotel. The hotel is being upgraded at the moment but with minimal impact on the residents. I stayed in one of the new rooms which was very luxurious overlooking the water. The rooms are warm and spaceious. The owners Paul and Andrea were very welcoming, nothing being too much... More

I stayed at the St Magnus Bay hotel for 7 nights and had a great time. Andrea and Paul are renovating the hotel which is difficult as it is open all year around so they are doing the renovation in stages keeping the impact on the visitors to a minimum. I stayed in Room 9 which was at the back... More

We spent two nights here on our recent trip to Shetland. The appearance of the hotel is spectacular - a huge Victorian villa built to accommodate guests who came up by steamer from London. Our first impressions weren't disappointed by the rest of the stay. The main communal rooms are huge and are in the process of being updated (as... More

We visited the hotel twice during our stay on the Shetland Islands for meals. The first being a delicious generous carvery and the second for well cooked and huge portion meals. Thoroughly enjoyed both meals, delivered by helpful staff.
