Great stay in this charming hotel packed with character. From Check-in to Check-out staff were friendly and helpful with a very relaxed attitude. House itself is packed with history and a complete maze of corridors and stairs leading to different wings on different levels. It could perhaps do with a bit of tidying up in one or two areas -... Busta House in Brae is an ideal base for touring the north Shetland mainland. The hotel is traditional in style and offers a reliable accommodation experience. It's restaurant promotes an up market dining offer in addition to bar meals. However, the available restaurant options were somewhat unappealing and overworked (scallops in Pernod being an example). The bar meals were solid... More

I stayed here for four nights in August. Despite terrible weather for most of the time we had a lovely stay. The location is beautiful and the house itself ancient and interesting with lovely ground leading down to a small harbour. The bedrooms were comfy with big beds, efficient bathrooms and all mod cons. You should be aware that due... More

I've stayed in numerous hotels throughout Shetland. First time stayed in Busta House, and this would be my choice for a return. The highlight has to be the service and food. Staff all very professional and helpful. For evening meal, I asked for the scallop special main course as a starter and was given this with no fuss. Steak was... More

If you know the Shetland Islands, you will know that trees are rare and big trees very rate. This hotel has a walled garden with big trees in it, which was nice to walk in after a day hiking the open meadows. We stayed two nights and used it as a base for exploring the northern parts of Shetland. We... More

Disappointed that the menu hasn't changed in ages.Boring selection and very limited ,food was ok but no wow factor .staff all very pleasant but bar and deco looking very tired .In dire need of redecorating and a new lease of life.one of the communal toilets leaking wet towels on the floor not pleasant.come on you can do much better!

We were booked in here by a travel agent so arrived knowing very little. It's about a 20 min drive down the A970 from Lerwick. Sits right by the water in a beautiful location, a few minutes from the village of Brae. Our room was large, with a king sized, comfortable bed and we slept very well. Bearing in mind... More

The heart of this hotel is its bar, with its friendly, hard-working and efficient young staff and dark wood, country house charm, and busy, buzzy atmosphere. Here too you can eat well from a hearty a la carte menu in convivial surroundings (booking essential). In our experience, this was much to be preferred to dining in the restaurant, also populated... We were cycling and had pre-booked a room. On arrival the first impression was that it was a bit grand for the likes of us, but staff were friendly, food was very good and room was nice. Like everywhere in the area it's not cheap, but in comparison to alternatives it's good value. Seems to be aimed mainly at older... More

Really enjoyed dinner in the restaurant. A good range of well-made dishes using top quality local produce. The focus was on letting the local Flavours come through; dishes weren't complex but they were perfectly cooked. Meal was leisurely and staff seemed to get the balance just right in terms of being attentive but also leaving us to enjoy our conversation.
