Lovey hotel staff very helpful and most have been there for years which make a difference. The food was top class and the chef been there for 25 years so the choice was great. Entertsinment was very good. And every body was very friendly. A big thank you to all staff see you again.

My mum recommended this hotel...I trusted her as you do! Looks quite grand on arrival but then well it's like stepping back in to Victorian times. A walk through the bar to reception and check in was fast and simple. You then get handed an actual key for your room!! Then a trip in the lift which holds 4 people... More

We thoroughly enjoyed a 3 nights dinner, bed and breakfast break travelling with friends. The hotel has managed to retain its traditional atmosphere whilst incorporating the modern standards expected. Our rooms were excellent, recently refurbished with huge walk in showers. Our room, 322 was small but adequate. Room 321 (our friends) was larger and included extra seating and a coffee... More

My husband and I have just returned from a shearings eight day self drive holiday. we loved this hotel. Our room was very comfortable with plenty of room. The staff were very friendly and helpful and nothing was to much trouble to help us with anything we required. The food was good and at breakfast time the chef makes the... More

I booked a room some time ago as I was to attend a wedding in Strathpeffer. As my wife, who was alive at the time of booking, had walking difficulties, I requested an accessible room. I was offered room 109 (near the lift) which was, at the time, being refurbished and would be an 'accessible' room. I happily paid an... More

Thanks for the review. We deal with several guests each week with various special needs and requests. We will always do our best to accommodate requests when possible. We would normally consider room 109 to be accessible for someone with walking difficulties as it is near the lift with a walk in shower. Please feel free to discuss any of... More

Beautiful place is Strathpeffer. Utterly perfect. And this hotel was great, both of my parents had a great time, and I'll cherish the memories forever, so thank you to the Bay Highland. Slept like a baby and woke up to the fresh Highland air, the best I've felt in years.

This once grand hotel seems to cater to bus tour groups of a certain age (septuagenarians and up) and offers entertainment to go along with it. Unfortunately our room, stately and large, with high ceilings and a beautiful view over the town, was directly over the music venue. The entertainment seemed to range between Mitch Miller and Ricky Nelson. This... More

Thanks for an interesting review. Last month less than 50% of our guests arrived by coach with the majority travelling by car. It's a shame coach guests are judged on their age, after all they are the ones still having a good time at 11pm. We would have been happy to change you to a quite room if you had... More

We went with Shearings the coach people to this hotel, Its a very large hotel with beams and wooden ceilings and History , The room we had was 316, which was up in the attic part , Quite enough room but the other rooms on the 1st and 2nd floors were very big. The only fault was the LIFT !!!... More

The lift is serviced regularly and receives a annual insurance inspection in line with current Health and Safety guidelines. We are a very busy hotel and sometimes there can be a slight delay waiting for the lift. Sorry if this caused any inconvenience. I'm glad to hear you enjoyed the rest of your stay. Thanks for the review. Kind Regards... More

My wife and I took a weekend break, Friday to Monday, September. Our room was very clean, freshly decorated, all expected amenities. There was entertainment laid on for 2 of the 3 evenings of our stay, Ronnie Ross in particular was excellent. Breakfast was a buffet with hot and cold food selection. My only criticism was that the evening meals... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Peacefully set in its own grounds with lovely views over the colourful village square, this chateau style hotel’s traditional features have been carefully retained to strike just the right Highland note. A warm welcoming feeling comes as much from the friendly staff as from the fine wood panelled public rooms which have been carefully preserved. Strathpeffer itself is just steps away from the hotel and is renowned as an attractive Highland spa resort with fabulous Victorian architecture. Be sure to enjoy the scenic views of the village below from the open veranda. The massive peak of Ben Wyvis is the backdrop to this charming village. It’s a perfect base from which to explore Scotland’s dramatic Northern Highlands – mountainous countryside, sparkling streams, waterfalls and golden shores. ... more   less
