OK for an overnight stay; it is what it is, an out of the way coach trip stopover that also takes occasional guests. Facilities basic, but everything seemed clean. Room small but adequate. only avoid notice is the Caesar salad on the bar menu....very little green salad in it, mainly bacon and dressing... an awful lot of chlorestorol!

Travelled here with Shearings holidays and arrived after a gruelling 13 hour cross country journey from the East midlands.Room was clean and bed very comfortable. The evening meals had a good choice and were lovely, and so were the buffet breakfasts. We were always served by the lovely hardworking Christina.Evening entertainment was good especially the Highland dancers and the bag pipe... More

This is a very nice old hotel, decorated in a traditional Scottish style. Breakfast is served in a nice buffet style. Recommended is to search around as prices on different websites might differ. All in all a nice experience.

We stayed at the Highland Hotel on a 4 night break with National Holidays. We were impressed with the setting of the hotel. Our room was a decent size, very clean and well looked after. The food was of a very good standard, especially pleasing as I am vegetarian. We thoroghly enjoyed our time in the highlands and would stay... More

We just came back from a Shearings five day holiday. The Highland Hotel is a lovely place to stay in Strathpeffer. Our room was spacious with a comfy bed and really nice en suite with bath and shower, everything was spotlessly clean.Customer care was second to none. Good food with self serve breakfast to set you up for the day. Clientele was... More

This Hotel is situated on a hill overlooking the village. Its external appearance is impressive, looking like something from an old movie.Internally the appearance is of olden days of elegance, with wood panelling and a cosy feel. The room we had was bright ,clean and spacious. The food was overall very good. The village is small, but well worth a stroll around. The old station building,is well... More

The room we had was very average. Painted battleship grey, it lacked any warmth. It was on the third floor and was very noisy. Access with heavy suitcases, no help offered, was by a very ancient and original lift which was frankly entered with great trepidation and a journey I didn't repeat. The staff were pleasant which was probably the... More

Sorry to hear you didn't enjoy your stay with us. The lift isn't the original hotel lift and is serviced on a 3 monthly basis and checked by an insurance company on a six monthly basis. I'm glad to hear you found the staff pleasant. Regards Alastair. More

My roadtrip-style of travel prefers to go by day-to-day bookings. I found this was not advisable in Scotland (in july) for scracity and level of prices. I was unable to find suitably-priced accommodation around Durness and Ullapool. So we cancelled part of the routing and for visit to Inverewe Gardens we had to drive back almost to where we departed... More

You state you did not want to book accommodation on your intended route due to price. Considering Ullapool and Durness are 50+ miles away we must have offered a considerable saving on other hotel rates. It seems a shame you chose to stay with us and leave a negative review. If you had informed us at check in that you... More

My husband and I stayed at the Highland Hotel, Strathpeffer, on a Caledonian Coach tour holiday. The entrance to the hotel, which we thought looked like the back of the hotel was disappointing, however once inside the hotel has an old world charm. There is a door that lead from the entertainment area on to a terrace overlooking the gardens... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Peacefully set in its own grounds with lovely views over the colourful village square, this chateau style hotel’s traditional features have been carefully retained to strike just the right Highland note. A warm welcoming feeling comes as much from the friendly staff as from the fine wood panelled public rooms which have been carefully preserved. Strathpeffer itself is just steps away from the hotel and is renowned as an attractive Highland spa resort with fabulous Victorian architecture. Be sure to enjoy the scenic views of the village below from the open veranda. The massive peak of Ben Wyvis is the backdrop to this charming village. It’s a perfect base from which to explore Scotland’s dramatic Northern Highlands – mountainous countryside, sparkling streams, waterfalls and golden shores. ... more   less
