Hotel's Favorite
What a beautiful place to stay. We had already pre planned our driving trip around Scotland, otherwise we would have loved to stay longer at Coul House. Stuart and Susannah and their staff were all great hosts, very friendly, efficient and professional. A great team.
Our room was very comfortable, very clean and cosy. The hotel has a lovely ambience, which is very welcoming.
We ate in the restaurant both nights and the food was brilliant.
Many thanks for an excellent couple of days.

We have just had a one night "after Lock-down" treat here and will definitely return. Stuart and his team are excellent: motivated, friendly, courteous and totally on top of COVID measures. We were socially distanced, staff all wore masks and there were bottles of hand sanitiser everywhere. We felt very safe here. The house and gardens are exceptionally well cared for and thought out, with something for every visitor's interest. The Fairy Trail through the rhododendrons is magical for all ages. Our wee dog was made very welcome and we were delighted to have room 1, which is on the ground floor next to an outside door which made it very easy for us to nip in and out early in the morning. They are totally geared up with poo bags and disposal bins outside. The bedroom was very comfortable with what is a rarity all over the world: TWO comfortable easy chairs for us both to sit and read or watch the TV. Excellent decor and everything shone. The attention to detail is commendable: everything has been thought of to make staying here a wonderful experience. Dinner, as expected from reviews read, was delicious and definitely 'fine dining' in the beautifully appointed octagonal dining room with views over the gardens and the sweep of lawn down to ponies in a paddock. Hot home-smoked fillet steak starter, expertly cooked fillet steaks with delicious tarragon butter and thrice cooked chips as a main and then an extraordinarily indulgent white chocolate cheesecake for pudding. My husband raved about his cream cheese and white pepper sorbet: who on earth would have thought that could be delicious? But it was! All teas and coffees are accompanied by home made shortbread and Scottish tablet, just to remind you that this is a pretty exceptional place.

This family owned hotel has consistently provided high standards of service and are genuinely interested in ensuring that their guests are well looked after during their stay. Mealtimes are a joy and though the main menu is seasonal there is ample choice, though if you were to stay a week you would not run out of options as there are always daily specials on offer. These should not be ignored in favour of the à la carte. Breakfasts are substantial and set you up for the day, choices are varied but you are free to make up your own from the menu. Everything is freshly prepared to order so you will not be offered tired bacon etc which has been sitting under a lamp on a buffet table for the past hour, as is so often the case in many other establishments. The hotel is ideally situated for exploring the Highlands and it is only a short trip to Ullapool (where you will find the Seafood shack, which is a must), Inverness or even further North. Dogs are welcome, and again it is ideally situated for hill walking and fishing so at the end of the day you can be assured that you are returning to a well stocked bar and a first class dinner.

We live in the highlands and have been keen to support local businesses when it has been safe to do so. We haven't been on a trip or stayed anywhere other than our house since March so this was a much needed escape!
When we arrived the welcome was extremely friendly, we were taken to our room and given robes and slippers. The room itself was lovely, my only minor complaint was that the floor of the bathroom was lino which, given the rest of the fixtures and fittings, seemed a bit of an odd choice.
We booked dinner and whilst I assumed the food would be good, it was nothing short of excellent. The crab and the duck were brilliant. My other half cant eat dairy products and was extremely well looked after - to the point of dairy free butter being supplied along with the bread.
The bed was big and comfortable and we had a great view out onto the gardens.
Would love to come back in the future!

We were up visiting the highlands and our hosts raved about this Hotel. They weren’t overselling it. We went for my daughter’s birthday and had a wonderful time. Firstly, what a beautiful setting as can be seen from the pictures on their website. COVID Restrictions were in place and we couldn’t have felt any safer. Lots of hand sanitizer available and all the staff wearing masks meant we could relax and enjoy. As for the meal it was simply wonderful. Great choice and cooked to perfection. Impressive Wine List with reasonable pricing and a great range from around the world. We were too full for pudding but they brought out a dish of Fudge and Home cooked shortbread biscuits with a dark and white chocolate strip with Happy Birthday on. A wonderful place with wonderful staff cooking wonderful food. Highly recommended.

I cannot recommend Coul House enough. The staff are lovely, really friendly, very accommodating and go above and beyond to make sure you enjoy your stay. The food is absolutely fantastic and the breakfast is sooo good!
Super dog friendly too. Well behaved dogs can be left in the room so you can enjoy dinner in the formal dining space, or they are welcome in the bar area. They even have a hot water hose outside so you can wash down the dogs after a walk.
Covid wise everyone wore masks, they staggered dinner and breakfast service where possible so the areas weren't crowded.
In all, we had a lovely stay and we'll definitely be back!

My wife and I were able to stay for 3 nights at this excellent hotel in mid March just before the limitations on travel were brought in by the Government. It was a marvellous stay and everything was just right from perfect hosts - Stuart and Susannah - to the courteous and helpful staff. The food was divine from the long standing chef, Garry, the table service by well trained staff and the invisible managment by Chris. The room was an excellent size with a lovely bath and seperate shower and a TV which I watched while in the bath!
The hotel is very dog orientated, which was a joy for our Italian Spinone, with extensive grounds within which to exercise her.
We know the area well and we were able to visit both the East and West coasts easily as the hotel is set in a perfect position at midway between both sides of Highland Scotland.
The hotel business has clearly been a labour of love for the two proud owners and we can thoroughly recommend this hotel for your stay.

From the minute we drove up along the long drive and walked in to the reception hall and found ourselves stood in front of an enormous fireplace with a beautiful ornate carved hardwood surround, we knew we may well have stumbled on to something truly enchanting. We were shown our suite and our baggage was brought up for us. My wife and I are very fussy but what can I say, we were utterly impressed. The bathroom had a free standing bath, television, heated floor, large shower cubicle, 2 sinks and was very large. Our bedroom contained a beautiful 4 poster bed, period furniture with a separate seating area, ample free standing wardrobe space and a small dining table in case we wanted to order breakfast in bed. The room was beautifully decorated.
My wife and I both cook well and we consider ourselves to be foodies. So we went downstairs to the hotel restaurant with high hopes but we were not disappointed. The menu is modern Scottish but at the same time perfectly adventurous whilst based on local produce. We ended up dining there every night in an effort to try everything on the menu. The venison is sublime! The rabbit starter paired with a bottle of their Riesling will bowl you over. They have an excellent wine list and I did not think it to be extortionate at all. Even their cheaper bottles were very good indeed. The breakfasts menu is excellent and the dishes are cooked and served at your table. The scrambled eggs and smoked salmon is excellent (especially with haggis on the side). The service is excellent and the owners and staff can not do enough for you.
The house is gorgeous with a lovely history. The owners and staff are very knowledgeable and passionate about the house and it's history.
The grounds are beautiful and the location is excellent for site seeing around the highlands. We even took a walk after dinner one evening to the old Mackenzie family cemetery, who were the original owners of the manor house.
I can definitely say that we will be back again.

Visited today with my hubby. We had a delicious lunch. Hubby had the hot steak sandwich with mushrooms and onions served with side salad. I had the ham, tomato and lettuce sandwich also served with side salad. We also had a side dish of the best chips I had tasted for a long time. Everything was so fresh and the baguette it is served in is home made, super soft and delicious. We also had a pot of tea and this came with home made shortbread and fudge. Lovely touch. I couldn't finish it all and no problem getting my leftovers bagged up. They have an extensive a la carte menu as well and we are going back to try it in February for evening meal. The owners Stuart and Susannah are so friendly and everything done with a smile.

My husband and I booked and visited Coul House for an afternoon tea, having had a late brunch, we didn’t need a full meal, so the afternoon tea was perfect.
Unlike ‘deals’ you get to make your own choice (so no dodgy cucumber sandwiches!) of fillings, adding in scones and a various selection of cakes. Cafetière coffee, tea in beautiful white china both served with amazing uber thin shortbread and tablet. All in all I highly recommend this hotel, for any time of the day or in fact time of the year.

Casual smart I would say. Wasn't stuffy or formal.
I would certainly get dressed for dinner
Agree with the answers above - on our visit to Coull House we found them to be most accommodating and very friendly.
I am sure you can, but you would need to check with the hotel
