Coul House was built in 1821 and is set in the hills above Contin and offers scenic views and an award-winning restaurant. Located within 5 miles of Loch Achilty and Loch Ussie, this hotel is only 20 minutes' drive from Inverness. The spacious twenty one rooms are individually decorated, and many have period features and garden views. All rooms have a flat-screen TV, a private bathroom with free toiletries, tea and coffee facilities and a seating area. Free Wi-Fi is included. Many of our repeat guests have their favourite room; whether it is for its accessibility to the outside to let the dog out or for the commanding views down the glen. The restaurant has a unique octagonal shape and an ornate ceiling. Serving a contemporary gourmet menu using local produce, there is also a wide ranging wine list. We are known for our versatility here at Coul House, often saying that our meal times are guide lines not deadlines. Chef Garry offers a range of dining options which includes both contemporary Scottish Cuisine and some more traditional favourites. I am sure you will agree there’s something for everyone to relish whether it’s for Lunch, Afternoon Tea, or Dinner. With plenty of space to relax and wind down, you’ll find yourself in awe of unique architecture, ornate plasterwork, fine craftsmanship and the unusual shapes which adorn the interiors of Coul House Hotel. Magnificent fireplaces, ornate ceilings and great views from all of the public areas create a unique environment with a very relaxing ambiance. Set in eight acres of beautiful mature woodland, Coul House is opposite the biking track to Rogie Waterfalls, in Achilty Forest. Free private parking is available and the market town of Dingwall is just 6 miles away. Beauly can be reached after a 20-minute drive. Nearby attractions include the castles at Dunrobin and Cawdor, Glen Ord Whisky

My wife and I were able to stay for 3 nights at this excellent hotel in mid March just before the limitations on travel were brought in by the Government. It was a marvellous stay and everything was just right from perfect hosts - Stuart and Susannah - to the courteous and helpful staff. The food was divine from the long standing chef, Garry, the table service by well trained staff and the invisible managment by Chris. The room was an excellent size with a lovely bath and seperate shower and a TV which I watched while in the bath! The hotel is very dog orientated, which was a joy for our Italian Spinone, with extensive grounds within which to exercise her. We know the area well and we were able to visit both the East and West coasts easily as the hotel is set in a perfect position at midway between both sides of Highland Scotland. The hotel business has clearly been a labour of love for the two proud owners and we can thoroughly recommend this hotel for your stay.

After a very challenging 2019, we took a break and stayed at Coul house again - this time for five nights. What an absolute treat it was and I can honestly say we haven’t felt so relaxed for a long time - probably since our last visit. The food, as always, was amazing and the team at Coul have a unique way of making you feel welcome and that nothing is too much trouble. The memories of sitting by those roaring fires, with a wee single malt and my Wife, Fionna, and our dogs will stay with me forever. Good times. A heartfelt thanks to everyone for making our stay so wonderful. Coul house really is a very special place.

What a wonderful hotel, you are made to feel so welcome by Stuart and Susannah. We came together as a family to celebrate my Dad's 80th birthday. The food was fantastic and Stuart made sure we were all looked after and that the whole evening ran smoothly. I would definitely recommend this hotel and look forward to returning back but next time will bring my dog.

Just back from a fabulous weekend at Coull House. Have been going to the hotel for a long period and it is a very special place. Very relaxing, lovely rooms, fantastic food and service excellent. Love sitting at fire after evening meal with a coffee & a dram. Many staff have been with the owners for a considerable time, including the brilliant chef Garry and Chris the manager, and the consistency of fine dining and service shines through because of this. The upgrades to the hotel itself over the years have made the hotel a real diamond in the North of Scotland. Many thanks to Stuart & Susannah and team.

Coul House is wonderful. It is family run and has a relaxed, friendly atmosphere, where customer service and attention to detail are exemplary. The hotel has the added advantage of being dog friendly. The food is excellent and there is an extensive bar and wine selection. This was my second visit and won’t be my last.
