Dinner with a family group and a close friend who was staying. Marred by an appalling reception by the manageress - in any of my hotels I would have fired her - but the bar and restaurant staff were really diligent and cared, were almost there on what they were doing, and the chef delivered. I am conscious that the... More

A thoroughly enjoyable stay in a stunning location, but we felt the quality had dropped a notch or two since our previous stay twenty years ago. The rooms were comfortable - though not overly luxurious - and dinner, though decent, was not £50-a-head quality. Small details like not replenishing the teabags provided in the room, same items repeated on the... More

I visited Achiltibuie for one night 20 years ago and always wanted to go back. This year we made up our minds and made the trip from Boston It's an incredibly beautiful otherworldly place of sheep on the roads, isolated crofts, jagged mountains, gorgeous Islands and long sunsets (at least in the Summer, and if the sun is shining). Being... More

We stayed one night in the Charlie Chaplin room - yes, apparently he did actually stay there back in the 1960's! The location is breath taking and you definitely feel remote. Our welcome was warm, the room very comfortable and the food - we opted to eat in the public bar - was high quality and good value. Breakfast in... More

Dear michele395 So glad to hear that you drove 'the wee mad road' - it really is beautiful - especially if you have a clear day. Thank you for the lovely comments regarding your stay with us - the Charlie Chaplin room is quite unique and I'm delighted that you enjoyed the nostalgia! I will pass on your comments to... More

Deborah is a Scottish gemstone and more. Our ?log canon room was a delight, lovely big warm bed and everything we wanted. Loved the separate bar a few wet and windy metres away, real ale from Scotland and an amiable dining room staffed with charming, young and erudite European cousins. We enjoyed our dinner very much but the wine list is... More

Dear timjanewales Thank you for taking the time to write your review about your recent stay with us. We are all happy to hear that you enjoyed your room and your dinner and also the bar with it's selection of real ales. Sorry to hear about the kipper - I have to say it is unusual for us to hear... We stayed in the Log House, not the main hotel, so can't comment on the main rooms. The Log House was clean and well appointed, but there were little wrinkles that shouldn't have existed given the cost of the place: there was no soap in the bathroom, only a tube of shower gel (not exactly convenient for washing one's hands);... Dear cruciverbalist Thank you for your trip advisor review. I am sorry to hear that you did not find the Log House comfortable for sleeping and also the lack of a soap bar - indeed there should have been soap in the bathroom - not just shower gel - apologies. Delighted to hear that you enjoyed the fabulous scenery that... More

Perhaps it was the beautiful weather, or the relief and excitement after the very long drive to get there, or just the sheer beauty and seclusion of its location, but this place is a real find! We were welcomed by Deborah on arrival and shown our room. The hotel itself is a wee bit old and in need of some... More

Dear designminkey Thank you for your '5 star' review. As you so rightly said, it is a long drive to get here and we are at the end of a long one track road but once you arrive the scenery and the peacefulness makes it all worthwhile. It's a shame that you didn't sample the food but I think the... More

my self and daughter booked this hotel for one night when exploring the west coast of Scotland . We had booked into the log cabin. Our first impression was how sparse it looked with two small single beds a narrow table and two bedside cabinets, the bathroom led off with a walkin shower. It was cold in the bathroom, the... More

Dear HelenK Thank you for the review as promised. I would like to apologise for two things: firstly the towel rail which did not work. We are in a very remote area and do not have B&Q on our doorstep so sometimes when things break it takes a little time to fix them. It was replaced after your visit. I... More

We (my daughter and I) received a wonderful welcome from Deborah the manager, and shown to our room just outside with an amazing grass roof. Stunning views and lovely walks. There was everything you would want in the room. The dinner? Yet another 'master chef' style indulgence. Why does this chef not have more rosettes to a a Michelin star?... More
