As we watched our tent being converted into something resembling Shredded Wheat(from the safety of our Land Rover, we were actually drinking some nice vino as it all happened) by the mega storm that hit Orkney last week I phoned the hotel late evening and explained our predicament. No problem, a room is available they said. So off we went... More

We stayed for 2 nights and loved it! Everyone made us feel so welcome - nothing was too much trouble and the dinner and breakfasts were great! The bed was very comfy and the shower was excellent - plenty of power! We really enjoyed how friendly everyone was and we had such a laugh in the bar with staff and... More

A great place to stay with very friendly staff and very helpful as well. Prices were good value for money and the cooking was excellent. Well worth a trip, there is so much to see on Westray and this is an excellent base for exploring.

We only stopped for coffee one day, to piggy back their wifi, it was a welcome break from trekking the island, there is no 3 network up there at all. We then decided to book that nights evening meal there as it was my birthday. The homemade parsnip soup was lovely and thick, so much so it almost filled me,... More

We'd already had lunch in the hotel and this was great in its own right, reasonably priced and good food and service. It was pouring with rain and we had a mile or more to walk to the ferry terminal. The barmaid, Amy sent a text to the bus driver but when she found out the bus didn't service our... More

When we first arrived at the hotel, I was a little nervous. It feels like staying in someone's house, which isn't necessarily a bad thing, but it's definitely different than a traditional hotel! There is a shared bathroom upstairs and I was very worried that I would have issues with waiting in line in the morning or feeling rushed when... More

I agree with previous reviewers who describe the rooms as dated and compact, and accommodation as simple but adequate. Whilst it doesn't entirely rest on its laurels, service is not consistent: our first night in the restaurant was excellent, by our second they had run out of most items on the menu, and on the third night we went elsewhere.... Excellent food in the restaurant is more than one would expect given the simple (but adequate) accommodation. A good base from which to explore the small island of Westray. Don't miss a visit to the Heritage centre next door. Also a Cream Tea on the front lawn is recommended.,

We spent two and a half days on Westray, visiting to see the archaeological sites, and to hike and birdwatch. We had heard good things about this hotel and so chose to stay here based on those reviews alone. And we were not disappointed. We had a lovely time here, and could not recommend this hotel more highly. That being... More

I was visiting the island whilst working and stayed at the Pierowall Hotel for one night. Dont let first impressions fool you as mentioned previously, its like the Tardis. You walk in and the place just sees to open up. The room which I had was, although a little dated, very comfortable and bright. I ate in the bar and... More
