Beautiful location, I stayed in the Pods for one night. Sanday is the perfect setting. Really helpful staff, everything you need from a hostel and more. Would recommend staying here for a lovely experience!

I booked for a tent pitch but was given the use of a pod with electricity at no extra charge - Brilliant start! I was then allowed to use the hostel facilities which was even better - full cooking facilities shower seats etc etc. Turned out that my visit coincided with Chip Shop Day so I also sampled quite a... Spent 3 days at Easter staying at the Ayre's Rock hostel on Sanday. Great island with some of the finest beaches I have seen in Scotland. Paul and Julie couldn't have been more helpful and the hostel is a perfect spot to base yourself for exploring the rest of the island. Having a morning coffee looking out over the bay... More

I haven't stayed but this place is in a fantastic location and the fish and chips and to die for! If you're visiting Sanday and you're there on a Saturday you must go - you can eat your tea in one of the lovely camping pods and admire the fabulous view at the same time - perfection!

We arrived on Sanday at 1805 and knew the chippy closed at 1900 so we cycled as fast as we could into the headwind and arrived about 1845 to find Paul and Julie in the chipshop. We enquired if we could place an order and Paul told us no problem, go and put your tent up get yourselves organised I... More

I spent 3 nights here in June during a cycle tour on Orkney. The weather was cold and windy but I was warm and cosy. The facilities are excellent and Paul and Julie are great hosts. It was great to be able to pop back to the hostel for a warm up. The community shop at Lady Village is well stocked... More

Really friendly and welcoming. Paul organised a very worthwhile talk on the island at the local heritage centre. Everything very clean and great views of the bay. 10 out of 10 for the fish and chips on Saturday night - people travel from all over the island for these.

What a lovely place to stay, even though we are in our campervan, the facilities in the hostel are super. Lovely shower and kitchen, very, very clean and comfortable. Paul and Julie are super and couldn't be more helpful. Woke up to a stunning view, watching seals in the bay. Haven't seen the resident otter yet but still hoping....

The hostel was absolutely delightful -cosy en suite room, well equipped kitchen, a charming little conservatory with a comfy sofa - bliss for relaxing in the evening, and the owners are so welcoming and friendly. The location is beautiful - a tiny peaceful campsite on the edge of the sea. We would love to go back.

You can't get a better location. The campsite, where we stayed, is on the edge of the sea with otters playing a short distance away. We were spoilt with beautiful weather but the big skies and really friendly Islanders make this a special place. The owners of this site are friendly and helpful and proud of their hostel, pods and... More
