We stopped here for one night to a friendly welcome. The breakfast was second to none with a fresh fruit platter containing exotic fruits - fabulous breakfast. The room was clean and newly decorated. We had our own patio garden overlooking the Eynhallow strait which separates the Island of Rousay from Mainland and the weather was beautiful and it was... More

We stayed for two nights and were superlatively well cared for. The food is excellent and comes in very generous helpings - just what one needs after a day of walking up and down hills and crawling in chambered cairns. The room and bathrom were spotlessly clean and had all the necesary bits of kit. They were restfully neutral in... More

On an island where the population is just over 200, it's not altogether surprising that there's not much choice around when it comes to food. We went on a midweek lunchtime and we were virtually the only people there. However the staff were really lovely, the view from our table out out to sea was spectacular, and the food was... More

Great base from which to explore Rousay's neolithic treasures. Our room, although not particularly exciting aesthetically, was generous and comfortable. We were kept entertained by the antics of the island's rabbits outside the window in the evening, and then by the hotel's chickens in the morning! The hotel offer a tasty menu for evening meal and the breakfast was also... More

Wasn't planning on stopping anywhere on our way to mid Howe but after getting lost and not finding a shop we decided to stop in here for a drink. We ended up also having a small lunch here, just a panini but it was lovely. The bar is well stocked with a nice choice of whiskey and Gins and also... More

We've had lunch twice at the Taversoe and have not been disappointed on either occasion. The first time we were a small party of 3 and were pleasantly surprised by the diversity and quality of the meals - thus we promptly arranged reservations for lunch for a group of 14. The staff greeted our request with prevenience and offerd us... More

We were greeted by Kerrie the owner who was more than helpful and accommodating. She showed us to our rooms which were very well presented, clean and very modern, the en suite was immaculate. The views from the rooms were superb especially on a wintry day, they were warm and very comfortable. Then evening meal was home made and served... More

We spend only one day in beautiful Rousay. My wife has to use a wheelchair and toilets were a problem. However, we called at the hotel after we got off the ferry and my wife was welcome to use their disabled toilet. It was on the small size but adequate. We returned for lunch and had a delicious meal overlooking... More

Location is stunning on an international scale..... the best sea view I've had from a dining room or bedroom. A simple enough building on an island with enough archaeology to make you feel you're in a time machine... mesolithic, neolithic, Viking, iron age, dark ages, the Broch people and a bit of runic graffiti in the ferry toilet. Decent menu,... More
