How can you go wrong? Location, in a wood leading down to the sea, is like something from a novel. Welcome, with home made goodies and a tea tray. Room, old fashioned slightly arty comfort with big towels and bottles of water by the bed and a huge luxurious bed. View of the sea to die for. Lovely gardens and lawn. Friendly but unobtrusive service Sensational breakfast. I wanted to move in.... And our dog was made thoroughly welcome and not charged extra. Perfect.

From the minute we stepped through the door we had a marvelous time. The house is historic and beautifully clean and tidy, our room was spacious with an en suite bathroom and tea making facilities, plenty of lovely towels and toiletries provided. The hostess Carola is friendly and efficient we were greeted with a tea tray and delicious homebakes. We took the optional evening dinner and at 17 pounds a head it worth every penny, beautifully cooked and presented, three courses plus tea or coffee. The grounds are spectacular, formal gardens and woodlands with a babbling brook, the old dovecote has been made into an informal chapel, simple but very spiritual. It was my partners birthday and this was a birthday treat for him as he had lived at Woodwick briefly as a boy 53 years ago, he was even presented with birthday cake before we came home. I would highly recommend this place and we will be returning in the future.

We booked to stay here for a week. We wanted somewhere quiet and off the beaten track but at the same time a good location for sight seeing and walking. Woodwick House did not disappoint.....in fact it exceeded all my expectations. Carola and crew gave us a lovely welcome and for the whole time we were there we felt at home. Our room was beautiful, roomy and light with every comfort we needed. Breakfast was a delight each morning with lots to choose from and lots of local produce available. I can not recommend this beautiful characterful house and scenic gardens enough. A perfect place to stay if you want peace and quiet in a tranquil surroundings. Thank You Carola.

My wife and I plus our 4 legged friend Kali spent a lovely 5 day stay at Woodwick House at the end of June/beginning of July. From the day we arrived until the day we left nothing was too much trouble. Kali, our German Shepherd was made very welcome and became a favourite with the staff. All the staff in the house are very helpful with suggestions of places to go and visit. There is a very good selection at breakfast and evening meals are available with 24 hours notice. There is a nice walk from the front of the house down to the beach through the gardens and along the beach and back up along the stream with the waterfalls, it doesn't take long but with the good weather we had on our visit it was a nice relaxing stroll. All of the sites in Orkney are within easy reach of the house unless you want to visit some of the other Islands in the group where you will have to get another small ferry ride. Kirkwall and Stromness are within easy reach and it only takes about an hour to go from the North to the South of the main island. If we were to visit the island again we would definitely stay at Woodwick House We would like to thank Carola and her staff for a very pleasant and enjoyable stay and hope to see you all again soon.

Carola and her staff make this historic home in the village of Evie a beautiful place to relax and recreate yourself. The room was large and decorated with exquisite taste. The home is historic and intriguing in its design. The common areas are welcoming and homey. The breakfast was large and very good quality. We were visiting Orkney for three nights and found Woodwick house a great place to use as our home base. The only thing that you need to know is that it requires a car to access it at all efficiently. Since, car rentals are not guaranteed, make certain that you book a car at the same time if you are traveling from overseas. Thank you Carola for an amazing stay.
