It is in a lovely setting, surrounded on 3 sides by mountains and a river running alongside. On a walk through golf course we saw dozens of stags. We stayed in a wooden pod. Seating rearranged at night to make a double bed and space on floor for 2kids. Bit tight on space but we all liked it. Washing facilities... More

Thank you for reviewing us. The stags are looking magnificent this summer. Aren' t there a lot with ten and more points on their antlers? Glad you had fun pod camping. More

We camped here for 3 nights over the Glasgow Fair weekend. The site is very well run and on flat land. There is also electric hookup for vans and tents. There are toilets, showers, washing up area, laundry and covered cooking area. There is loads of hot water for showering and washing. You can't park beside your tent, but have... More

Very good facilities in a safe and clean environment with lovely scenery. Not the friendliest or most helpful place but would definitely return. It is in a good location with adequate public transport and plenty around to do. Special access to the Lochranza golf club available - just be careful of the deer!

Thank you for your review. Reading between the lines it seems that you were looking for some help with something and were disappointed? Every day I witness my colleagues being extraordinarily helpful, way beyond the call of duty, so I am surprised by the remark. Only yesterday, two of my colleagues towed a caravan to Lamlash to help someone out.... More

This campsite in Arran is fantastic and has links to other hebrides like Islay, Mull, Skye etc. The prices are very good and the pitches were great, we had a lot of space and we were encompassed by fantastic mountains providing breathtaking views, it's a photographers dream! The dog was allowed no problem and the campsite is closeish to the... More

Glad you had a great time here and thanks for posting this review. As you say, there's a lot to see on Arran. From Goat Fell on a clear day you can see the Antrim Coast, the Paps of Jura, Mull, the Loch Lomond mountains and the Galloway Hills. It's 2-3 hours to Fort William from the Lochranza-Claonaig ferry. Red... More

We are in a 29ft motorhome, the drive from Brodick to this campsite was challenging in places but worth the effort. We arrived at gate about 6.20pm and were warmly greeted. After a no fuss check in, we were given our pitch number and drove in. We did need to use our chocks. The largest hardstanding pitches can pick up... More

Thank you for staying at Lochranza for a few days and for your very helpful and informative review. Your tips about parking up your motorhome and exploring Arran with a hire car will be really useful to other people planning tours. I'm very disappointed that you had to put up with some anti-social behaviour by a dog owner though. We... More

I camped here with my fiance and our 5 year old daughter for 3 nights from 17th - 20th June 2016 for our first ever family camping trip. As we had our child with us, we chose a campsite rather than wild camping so that we could have some facilities for her i.e. toilets/showers. The site itself is set amongst... More

Nice campsite, good facilities, but where we pitched our tent the ground was solid, few tent pegs went in ground, those we did get in are all bent, batch of new pegs required and we weren't the only ones that had trouble. Good location, near the castle and the brewery for a coffee and scone. Was lucky enough to see... More

Thank you for your review and compliments. You mention the downsides of the long period of hot, sunny, dry weather we have had in May and June: hard ground and midgey evenings. (The upsides have included amazing sunsets night after night and it being warm enough for outdoor swimming.) When it's the calm weather whicjh midges love, I recommend sitting... More

It was a treat to stay there and will be coming back. Oh by the way the midges were fieresome, they really did like me!!!

Thank you for the kind comments and sorry that the midges find you irresistible. One theory goes that if you react to midges it's because you've got an active immune system so I hope that's a bit of consolation. More

We went to Arran for three nights in the half-term holiday at the beginning of June. It was the most amazing experience because the weather was wall-to-wall sunshine and the island was full of wild flowers and looked absolutely stunning. Thank you very much for your useful and descriptive review- we're always pleased to welcome back familiar faces. I agree about the midges at the start of last week. They had just woken up and were hungry. The high temperatures for early June didn't help. One benefit was that the midges attracted the swallows, which in turn will benefit Lochranza's... More
