At short notice we, and two friends, decided to go to Anstruther for an overnight stay on a Saturday night and the Royal Hotel had been highly recommended. We weren't disappointed. We had dinner which all four of us thought was excellent. The fish was huge and the batter very light. One of the party needed gluten free and was... More

Recently stayed at The Royal and were warmly greeted by staff. Our room was very comfortable with tea and coffee making facilities. The Hotel and rooms have recently been refurbished to a high standard without spoiling some of the original features ( the building is over 300 years old listed). The staff were lovely and helpful and recommended places to... More

Called in on Friday evening 26th August - we were showing friends around the area from Manchester and having tried a couple of places that were ~fully booked~ for the night we went to the Royal hotel having seen the notice board outside, they were able to accommodate us so we settled down to order our food, the waitress was... Ate here last night and the food was excellent. Highly recommend the Cullen Skink. My husband had the prawn and crayfish cocktail which he really enjoyed. We both had the daube of beef bourginone which was beautifully tender and tasty. Huge portion of rhubarb crumble and ice cream which we shared. Excellent value for money and lovely staff!

A lengthy wait for very mediocre food. After discussions re. gluten free food for my daughter. She was served normal bread - (as in containing wheat and gluten) with her prawn cocktail - this fact alone was enough for us to lose confidence in the staff's ability to have the understanding of this dietary requirement. Not an enjoyable lunch. Will... More

Only drank in the bar. Was friendly and welcoming. Good selection of drinks on offer. Only problem was with different prices for the same round of drinks? Newly refurbished, pool table for use and juke box.

Small menu, but decent food at reasonable prices. Nice to see gluten free options celarly marked on the menu. Would be even better if they had a gluten free bun for my burger. Service was good, and the restaurant was clean and fresh. Definitely somewhere in Anstruther to go for a decent bite to eat.
