My wife and I were taking a day off and decided to "do" the Coast Rd and decided to call into The Halfway House for lunch. Meal was basic "home-cooking" type fare. The Hotel was owned by the boxer Dave "Boy" McAuley, don't know if he is still in involved but there were lots of photos of him about the... More

Visited here for lunch with friends. Although the aesthetics of the bar and restaurant are dated, the food and service was to a good standard. Menu has lots of options all at very reasonable prices especially the two course offer. Food choices are quite old fashioned but done very well, making your visit seem homely and comforting. Open fire added... More

I booked into the halfway house as was attending a wedding at Ballygally Castle. We made a night of it and came down for a meal, the food was good decent pub food, but the service and friendly staff made it a lovely evening. Room was very nice, recently refurbished and the staff were very welcoming and kept us entertained... More

Most importantly the rooms were clean and well presented. The food was very good or excellent and the service was every bit as good. The staff create an atmosphere that lends to total relaxation. To top it all, this is the very start of the Glens of Antrim, most likely one of the most beautiful places in all of Ireland.... More

Called in today with my cousin. Friendly welcome, great service and excellent food. Only downside is the vegetables. I had chicken curry rice and chips so no problems there, my cousin had half roast chicken, bacon and chips. The deserts are to die for. Great prices and views.

took my father for a meal on Monday - food was superb, roast beef cooked to perfection and beautiful roast potatoes followed by apple pie and custard, staff were brilliant. the only fault was the décor - looked like it was still in the 70s. could do with new carpet and a coat of paint. this place could be a... It's not often I'll go back to the same place with so many places to try but went here twice in one week. The specials are always fantastic, great choices on the main menu, love the ambiance of the place, plenty of room between tables and nice seating. Staff are fantastic. Michelle as always is a hoot and gives such... More

We had a superior room, which was large, clean and modern with a lovely sea view. Unfortunately that was the only good thing about our stay. The hotel seems to be a bit old-fashioned and run down in general. Breakfast was very basic, with packet cereals, tinned grapefruit and peaches and basic white or brown toast. The cooked part was... Just decided to call in with the hope of getting a table on a Saturday night. It was very busy and there was a good buzz to the bar and dining area. Luckily we got a table. Service was very prompt and friendly. The roast beef and scampi we ordered came in good time and the lady serving us couldn't... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The Halfway House Hotel is a family run hotel, situated on the world famous Causeway Coast/Antrim Coast and Glens. It can be described as the Gateway to the Glens and Causeway Coast because of the location. From the front of the hotel you can see that it is situated in a picturesque seaside village. On clear days, if you look across the sea you will be able to see the mountains of Scotland. Within the hotel there is also a large lounge area (Maidens Lounge) where food and drink are served daily. The menu has a wide variety of food available – from seafood to steaks and a great selection of sweets. Again this area has lovely views over the sea. ... more   less
