Good stop for a Sunday roast. Friendly staff and quiet environment. The staff were very attentive and the food was very tasty. Good and quick service. Not expensive. Recommended when travelling around the countryside

We stayed for one night as base for Camp Bestival. We had a clean room in the attic. The breakfast was excellent and the staff were polite and well-presented. The bar is quiet, in keeping with the generally sleepy nature of Wareham.

There are some nice tables with stools and a raised couch area to sit at. We sat and prepared to order our food when a waitress apologised and explained that 'only those over 18 can sit there'. I pointed out that my daughter is 18 - and ID was demanded. I could understand that they didn't want toddlers up there,... More

We are very sorry if you were put off. The appearance of age is a very subjective matter and we do try to be fair to all guests and adhere to our policy of no under 18s on the four tables directly adjacent to the bar. Thank you for taking the time to review More

We booked the room for one night as we were visiting Wareham for a millatory parade in the town. We arrived fairly late in the evening and the staff were very accommodating in serving us in the restuarant. The food was good pub good and the service very friendly. The landlord has a very large selection of gin and this... More

A late arrival in Wareham after making the mistake of driving out of London a couple hours late and into peak hour, and upon arrival, the service was great. Happy greeting after a long drive, shown to the room, and very spacious and comfortable it was. Kids were very happy with the size of the room (and believe me they... More

Fabulous staff, lovely very large rooms which are decorated very nicely. Great pub, service is fantastic. Menu is large and varied, sadly the food isn't as perfect as everything else. Wifi is very good in the bar but not so good in the top floor rooms. If the food was top notch I would have given this place 5 stars.... More

We just popped in to have something to eat. The pub was empty (that should have set alrms bells ringing). We chose the chicken burger with home made coleslaw. It was quite pricey (have paid the same for a to die for burger) when it arrived it looked nice on the plate. The burger was just a plain chicken breast... More

We stayed with our two Grandchildren in the Family Room No 8. The Room was clean but needs decorating and had only one Wardrobe and two draws to store all out Clothes. Breakfast was average and took twenty minutes to arrive after ordering. We did not eat in the evening because we were told that because we were with two... More

We often choose not to respond to reviews as opinions are subjective and sometimes it can sound petty not respecting a guests point of view. However in this instance we must challenge the suggestion that we are not family friendly. We have 26 interior tables and do not feel it appropriate for under 18s to be sat on the four... More

I stayed in Room 1 which was dual aspect and absolutely huge with a super king size bed and large shower room off it. I felt quite spoilt as I was on my own stopping over for one night on business. the room had good views ob both North and West Streets which have a good range of both independent... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The Red Lion, after years of neglect, has undergone a refurbishment totaling around half a million pounds. The Red Lion now boasts 8 individually designed bedrooms, all of which are en-suite and some are suites. We have a formal restaurant, a relaxed snug dining area and comfortable bar with a great selection of lagers, ales, wines, premium spirits and champagnes. We are situated on the town cross in the centre of Wareham, the gateway to the Jurassic coast. Wareham is beautifully placed to tour the South coast.
