Went here on recommendation and it was worth it. We ate lunch outside and enjoyed the beautiful views - the staff are great and bring your food across the road for you! Service was very quick, food was delicious - beef bourguignon, scampi and lamb shank. Just watch the swing doors into the pub - managed to spill most of... More

Visited as part of a walk. Old choice of local ales in a good traditional setting. Was a sunny day, so had the beer garden to ourselves, while locals were in front of the log fire. Well worth a visit.

Very cosy room No.1 with incredible sea view. Harry Rock next door. Yammy, yammy food and great choice of not only local drinks. Authentic 'back in the days' building. Very happy during our stay, as the staff very friendly and helpful. we will be back soon ;-)

Mum and dad liked the lovely sea view they got from their bedroom window. Room was very spacious and the bathroom a little quirky. Some refurb work is being undertaken so it will be interesting to see how this turns out. Obviously a favourite with walkers, and sailors moared in the nearby cove. Fantastic location for those who like walking,... More

This has got to be one of the busiest pubs in the purbecks.. Staff are always friendly and the food is of good portion sizes and at reasonable prices, always delivered quickly. Have been going there for years and have never had a problem. I find it sad to see some of the other reviews that mention the staff and... More

My father in law recommended this pub. It really is a lovely tradition English pub with a great selection of ales. We had lunch and there was a good choice and the prices were reasonable, the food was lovely and of a good quality. I personally would be happier to go here instead of the Pig on the beach as... Being a local I understand what a terrible place this is badly run and even not friendly for us locals. That's why we have a social club. Being a local I know unlike all the tourists that holiday here where they make the staff live in sleeping bags in a shed. Modern slavery anyone visiting the area avoid this place... More

Visited this pub on a Friday night to meet up with old friends before a wedding on the Saturday. The views are lovely if you sit outside on the benches, of which there are many are were perfect for a big group. The staff were friendly and pleasant, with and efficient bar service. The food, I found, was expensive and... More

Have known the Bankes Arms for many years. It's ok for a beer if you drink outside but not a lot else. Always was very 'tacky' & feeds off unsuspecting Grockles with staff who could not care as most are only employed for the season with the corresponding attitudes. If you know the pub you will know exactly what is... More
