Stop your search - this is the place to stay! Completely charming cottage and lovely cosy room - the bed was amazing and after a very long walk along the coast I slept like a log. Chrissy is just fantastic - I wish I had more time to hang out with her. The perfect host and she cooked the best... More

A warm and welcoming, cosy, cool cot in top location. Beautiful walks, breathing in the ozone, are on the doorstep and a breathtaking view of the sea, is on the top room. Everything has been thought of in this sweet cottage, from an amazingly comfortable bed where the sound of the waves lulls you to sleep, to the quality and... More

We visited in early May with our dog, and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. The cottage is small and quirky, but has considerable charm. Our room was clean, pleasantly decorated, the bed very comfortable, and our hostess had clearly given a great deal of thought to every detail of what was on offer. Breakfasts were very good. The sea and pebble... More

We stayed at the Mariners' Cottage while walking a stretch of the South West Coast Path. It was very accessible, right on the beach just a stone's throw away from the path. The cottage itself stands out when you're walking along the road with its bright murals. It's a tiny matchbox house built in 1640, according to Christina. It's full... More

Just returned from our Easter Break in Portland staying at the Mariners Cottage. We were made to feel at home from the start. The Cottage and our room was clean with everything we needed. Chrissy also very kindly looked after our dogs for one night while we out to a restaurant with friends. The location of the Cottage was prefect... More

And what a treat it was. The Mariners Cottage is a cosy, welcoming retreat which is like a home from home. Chrissy, the owner, could not be more warm, friendly and accommodating. We were supposed to stay for just 2 nights, but extended our stay by 1 more day because we didn't want to leave. The rooms themselves are clean,... More

Mariners' Cottage is the perfect B&B spot. Clean and comfy; friendly and welcoming. Christina treats you as one of the family; and serves up a delicious, fulfilling breakfast. The perfect location for seeing the Isle ~ leave the car at the door and walk. So much to enjoy; Portland is a gem! Alex & Elizabeth, Victoria, BC, Canada.

This b&b was recommended to us by the owner of another b&b that we had stayed in before but was fully booked. We had a warm welcome from Christina and her dog and offered a choice of room (there are only 2). Top room slightly smaller but you have a sea view over the sea wall (although Im 5ft so... More

Just a lovely quirky place to sat with a lovely hostess, big comfortable room and plenty of local advise and information. Breakfasts include loads of local produce and hot dish cooked to order. Original art everywhere

We stayed here for one night last week for an impromptu break by the sea. Mariners Cottage is a cosy, dog friendly B&B located just yards from Chesil Beach. Perfect for taking the dog for a stroll along the sea-wall and beach, or trekking further afield on the coastal path. Owner Christina offers a warm welcome and her helpfulness is... More

Mariners Cottage is a 17th Century Fishermans Cottage decorated with murals depicting buoys, crab and lobster pots. We are tucked behind the Sea Wall in Chesil Cove on the Isle of Portland and the cottage has exposed beams, Portland Stone fireplaces, wooden floors, all rooms are decorated in a coastal colour theme. Breakfast is served in the Garden Room, home made bread and jams, local honey, yoghurt and fruit compote. Free range eggs, real bacon and sausages made by our local butcher. Christina trained as a chef so is keen to serve quality and locally sourced ingredients. Both our bedrooms are en suite and very quaint, Driftwood on the first floor has an exposed Portland stone fireplace, and a sublimely comfortable king size bed , Pebbles on the second floor has a double bed and stunning sea and coastal views. Picture Framing....If you have something at home you have been meaning to get framed, bring it with you, Christina is a Bespoke Picture Framer and has a framing studio at the cottage, she will happily do this for you during your stay, by prior arrangement. ... more   less
