Having enjoyed lunch the previous weekend (after a walk over from Swanage where we live) we promised ourselves dinner with a trip on the train. (The train by the way is a bargain £4 return from Swanage after 6pm). We were not disappointed in this newly revamped restaurant. My son, husband and I all had calamari with sweet chilli which... Thank you for taking the time to review your visit to us. We are delighted that you enjoyed the whole experience. Good pub just on the way to the station just off main road, Was nice to sit in the garden & have a meal, good meal but pricey. Small carpark, best thing was being able to watch the steam trains go in to the station.

Having just visited Corfe Castle on a wet and cold summers day, we were keen to get out of the rain and warm up, before getting back in the car and going back to where we were staying. We were enticed by the beautiful appearance of the hotel, and the sign outside advertising cream teas. I nipped in to check... More

We tried all three pubs and this was the best for food for us. We sat in the garden and had smoked salmon salad which was very good but very expensive followed by a big slab of cheesecake which was excellent

After a pleasant day in Swanage we investigated the Bankes Arms, which was a regular haunt of mine some 20 years ago and which sadly appeared to have closed at the time of our last visit. My partner chose the avocado salad and I had the spaghetti polpette. Both were beautifully presented and absolutely delicious. Far from the usual 'leaves... More

An unexpected trip to Wareham saw me ride from the Castle in search of something to eat. The other pubs in the immediate vicinity appeared a little overpriced and waiting to order took ages so I changed locations. I then strolled over to the Bankes Arms where I found a nice cosy (but nice and cool) bar on a rather... More

We went to the Bankes arms for dinner and the place was practically empty. The waitresses were lovely and very helpful but we ordered two steaks - one medium and one medium rare. When they finally came they were closer to well done and very tough. We told the waitress she apologised and said yes the steaks are definitely overcooked,... More

Thank you for taking the time to review your visit to us. I am looking into the incident and will talk to the manager about dealing with customers in an appropriate manner. Certain members of the kitchen have been trained at some of the countries best steakshouses and are more than capable of cooking steaks to a customers order. The... More

Good atmosphere,Friendly service and well presented fresh home cooked food. A nice beer garden to the rear and child friendly. Pork pie Ploughmans was lovely. We didn't stay at the hotel just passing through to visit the castle and have lunchso can't comment on any of the rooms.

Nice looking hotel, we were staying up at Mortons house so only went into this one for a drink a couple of times. From what we saw this was another good place to stay and/or eat. Again Ideally situated for the Castle and Railway.
