The West Bay hotel restaurant used to have a good reputation and on previous visits had been fine. It's been some time since I was last there and so this visit with friends was disappointing. Staff were lovely and we had a nice table away from the bar. Two friends ordered beer battered fish and chips. It was a case of hunt the very thin fish hidden in batter. My whole plaice in butter was overly buttered so the entire meal swimming in grease. A shame.

Although we didn't stay at the hotel we had a lovely evening meal at the West Bay. They were very accommodating for our party of 35, the food was delicious and I would be happy to use this hotel again. Well done to Laura and her staff

Sorry to say the west bay hotel has really gone down in quality. The fish dishes on the menu were limited (compared to previously) and awful quality. The chips were not cooked properly, the onion rings were covered in grease, everything was just uncared for.. and to be honest even the new menu was badly thought out. This was my favourite place in west bay so it’s so upsetting.

Thank you Pizza wizard for the feedback from your visit. As this was three months ago, I'm not sure which menu you are referring to, as this was changed in late March 2019. Our current menu and specials board features skate, mackerel, sole, seabass, hake, haddock, squid, mussels, prawns, crab and whitebait. I hope you will give us another chance when you visit West Bay again in the future.

Thank you Allan. We are very lucky to have such an abundance of seafood around us, and to have such a friendly team working with us. We do tend to fill up quite quickly, so as you point out, it's always a good idea to book, especially at the weekend. Thanks again for your positive words, and we look forward to seeing you again in the future.

Never been to West Bay, never heard of Broadchurch but wanted a getaway in Dorset. We've done a lot of east Dorset / West Hampshire, we needed to give the West a go. Found this place on Expedia and was not dissapointed. We stayed in Room 1, very large space with a lovely window-nook seating thingy, great for reading the papers (which we bought early morning in the town). Great walk-in shower which we love. Bed super comy, room was spotless. Everywhere in West Bay is walkable from the hotel and its parking space is massive. We arrived at 8.40pm just in time for dinner. The food we both chose was off their fish specials board, including scallop starters (excellent). Overall, it's pub food but good pub food, reasonably priced. The fact that it it is a pub was a plus for me, it has a complete set of Palmers ales, all brewed locally in Bridport from a very old brewery. They have a host of other drinks as well. After a day's touring, pleasant to come back to a scoop or two! You may not be aware, West Bay is undergoing massive sea defence works along it's coast line, It should be completed in July sometime. It didn't affect us and the town seemed very much open for business. In summary, we really enjoyed our stay here, the staff were freindly, helpful and the breakfasts are really good.
