A one night stay on way to Cornwall. Dinner was very good and breakfast was also nice. The only comment I would make is that our room did not have a separate shower and I had to squeeze my 6ft 4in frame into a small old fashioned bath. Not a big point I know but as I get older it... More

From arriving and booking in at the hobbit hole that is reception to the booking out process - we had the most marvellous, surreal time. The Food magnificent, the staff superb and the guests varied. Our 4 poster room delightful. Young Ellie and Imogen, so eager to help, with delightful smiles. To Viv, the manager who cared so much about... More

Forgive the pun please but both were on the menu and I had the sole, beautifully cooked as were the accompanying vegetables: my wife had a succulently cooked chicken. My starter was outstanding: thin slices of wood pigeon breast that would have passed for beef fillet if I had been blindfolded. A very high standard of cooking and my compliments... More

We had a nice welcome and found that we had been put in upgraded room. The complementary cream tea was a nice idea, but we arrived too late and left too early to partake .It is not perhaps the best hotel for anyone ,like me, with visual problems as the lighting is either very dim or glaring from different sources... Chaotic service at this potentially charming hotel Pre dinner drinks poured over us, wine served warm and not with dinner Toast came after breakfast The food was quite good if rather expensive If you stay in an annex room there is no sound insulation between you and anyone staying above you. Really terribly noisy, it sounds as if the people... More

Lovely place to go for a special meal. Small, personal service. The food is delicious and locally sourced. We have been here for some special occasions with my brother, who lives in the village. Would definitely recommend if you can afford an expensive meal as a treat,

Great building in a fantastic & unspoilt part of Dorset within easy reach of the coast and plenty of local walks. Hotel generally good, but a few hiccups - junior staff unsupervised at evening meals, they tried but needed guidance (no bread the first night, starters delivered to the wrong table, portion sizes cared enormously). My wife is gluten free,... More

We recently decided to head down to Dorset for the weekend and decided to stay at the Bridge House as it was pretty central to all of the things we wanted to do. Right from the start we were impressed by the hotel and the friendly staff. The room we were in was in effect a suite, with our two... More

We travel in the UK with our small and well-behaved dog, so need places which will allow us to bring the dog with her comfy cage in to sleep in the bedroom (rather than in the car, as some have suggested). The Bridge House not only provided such accommodation promptly and with no drama when asked but upgraded us on... More
