The Watersmeet hotel located on the quiet edge of Woolacombe is one of Devon's finest coastal hotels. It is perfectly perched on the cliff edge above a quiet, sandy beach known as Combesgate beach. All but three of the bedrooms offer spectacular sea views to Lundy Island and Baggy Point. A number of the bedrooms have sea view balconies or terraces where you can sit and watch magnificent sunsets. The seaward side of the hotel offers one long, uninterrupted panorama and whether you're reading the paper in the lounge or dining in the restaurant you can enjoy the most wonderful views of the sea and rolling surf. The very best pocket sprung beds; thick, luxurious duvets; crisp white linen and superior memory foam pillows ensure a comfortable night's sleep. 2 AA rosette awarded the Rock's restaurant and Bistro offer a high standard of cuisine. On the hotel's doorstep is one of the country's best surfing beaches and a top links golf course. The hotel could not be better placed with scenic National Trust land that surround the hotel and beautiful coastal footpaths to Mortehoe Point, Croyde and Lee.

My husband booked this hotel to celebrate his birthday as it has long been on his bucket list. We had a lovely room with a balcony with stunning sea view. it was exactly as expected. We had dinner the first evening and it was very good, however I was a bit concerned about the service. I asked for a basket of fresh bread and olives to start. I expected the bread to come with butter or olive oil and balsamic but it didn’t. I asked the waiter if I could please have oil and balsamic but he just walked away. However I watched this waiter deliver food to other tables, he never spoke a word just put the dishes down. My thoughts were he could have been foreign and didnt yet speak English. I didn’t pluck up the courage to ask! Breakfast next morning was excellent and the…

We first visited The Watersmeet Hotel in 2003, and have been back at least once each year until Covid got in the way. It was nice to get back once more. Over the years we have witnessed continuous improvement in all aspects of the Hotel, and the upgraded spa/pool, and outdoor pool were the two big changes since we were last here. Rooms are well equipped with spring water, tea and coffee, plus high quality shower gel and shampoo/conditioner. Obviously the rooms have spectacular views, as does the lounge and dining room. Breakfast has a huge choice on the self service table, with a large range of cereals, yoghurts, fruit, juices and pastries. There is a good selection of cooked breakfasts and the portion sizes are good. Some years ago, a Bistro was added, in addition to the…

we had booked this hotel with a lot of expectations. according to our booking we would get an ocean de luxe sea view balcony room on the first floor of the hotel. this room would be at the front of the hotel so we would have a fantastic view over the sea and the coast. the balcony would be equipped with two sunbeds and chairs. the room would be equipped with coffee and tea supplies, a coffee table belonging to the club chairs and a writing desk. The price of this room is approximately 400 euros. when we arrived we were pleasantly surprised, the front of the hotel looked nice and the room we were promised was on the first floor with a beautiful view. the lobby also looked nice and modern.when we got to the room we were shocked this was certainly not the room we had booked. it…

My wife and I stayed for one night mid-week as a treat to break up our week in self-catering accommodation in the middle of nowhere near the North Devon border with Cornwall. Delightful location. We had an excellent room with sea view. Thoroughly enjoyed dinner and breakfast in the restaurant. Very good service. There was one thing we weren't happy with but it was resolved by a helpful young receptionist to our complete satisfaction. We shall look for an opportunity to return

Booked for my 60th birthday dinner for 10 . Food was excellent and the view from the restaurant was stunning . The staff were both friendly and welcoming . I received a dessert at the end of the meal with happy birthday piped in chocolate which I thought was a really nice touch . Very pleased with my choice of venue as never been to this hotel before but will return next time in the area

I through caution to the wind and booked 3 nights here on the 4th Sept at £400 + per night ! My room wasn't quite ready so ordered a beer at the bar, my favourite was in a bottle and they put on my room. Then I shortly found out that the beer cost me £8 ! there is one thing I hate and that's being 'ripped off' , needless to say that was my last beer. Nowhere else in the area were charging these kind of prices. The room was small for that price, no carpet slippers just robes, I didn't take any as I presumed they would be provided. I had cooked breakfast and the bacon was left off and they charged me for one cup of Americano from the machine ilo cafetière. Food was good although a bottle of wine would have been nice with it, staff were text book instead of a good friendly ready to…

On our first evening we approached the bar to order a drink. No other customers were waiting. There were three bar staff, two pouring drinks and one at the cash register. We stood there for several minutes and not one of the staff made eye contact or acknowledged us in any way. “ I will be with you in a minute” would have been sufficient. The next morning two women had been working on the front desk, but when I approached only one receptionist was there and she was struggling with the computer to change a customer’s dinner booking from 7.30 one evening to 8.30 another. After several minutes, the second woman began to call out instructions from the back office. When I realised she was there I asked them for a second key to our room. This request could have been dealt with in…

This is a review by Joanne Denley. We originally booked our 3 night stay in room 10 last year however owing to my husband's ongoing sciatica we cancelled as we didn't think he would be able to travel. Two days before our holiday should have started we felt so upset at missing our trip to the Watersmeet we managed to make a late availability booking for 2 nights. Happy days ! We stayed in room 3 which didn't have the balcony we originally booked but had a double aspect window with a fabulous view of the bay. The room was beautifully decorated and spotlessly clean thanks to Susie and the housekeeping team The weather was kind and we were able to enjoy wine and delicious sandwiches on the spectacular terrace while enjoying the wonderful view (my most favourite place to be) We…

Overall we liked this hotel very much. The location, views and outdoor swimming pool are superb, the staff are friendly. The restaurant menu was a little overpriced and the bedding too hot for the season, but those are the only disadvantages I can think of.
