A really fabulous retreat but with lots of things to do within easy reach. A really well equipped kitchen and the grounds are beautiful. Would recommend this to anybody and would definitely consider returning. Suzanne & Nigel are very accommodating and supplied a lovely hamper...More

We have just returned from a week away for Christmas with friends staying in both Stable and Harebell. Both cottages are tastefully decorated, spacious and spotlessly clean. Suzanne and Nigel the owners have thought of everything and their house is on the grounds if you...More

This secluded house swallowed 12 of us plus 7 dogs for a long weekend. All the large bedrooms were ensuite, plain but with some nice touches. A vast comfortable lounge and a huge well equipped kitchen easily catered for our every need. We sensibly stocked...More

    About
    Hotel description
Approached by a long private drive, which winds through open fields, Eastacott Barton stands in an elevated position at the head of its own valley, commanding fine views over the surrounding countryside towards the river Taw.With Dartmoor lying to the south and Exmoor to the north, the property is surrounded by glorious Devon countryside offering a wide range of recreational pursuits including walking, riding, cycling, golf and fishing on the rivers Taw, Torridge and Mole. Sailing and boating can be enjoyed at Instow and Appledore, and the dramatic coastline with its renowned surfing beaches including Croyde, Woolacombe and Saunton Sands is just a short distance awayWe especially welcome dogs, who will enjoy the acres of recreational pasture, woodland and lakes that are a feature of Eastacott Barton. The stone Victorian barns have been lovingly converted to provide 5* self catering accommodation, either as two 3 bedroom cottages (all en suite), or for the exclusive use of one group sleeping up to 12 (plus cots). With lots of exposed beams and high vaulted ceilings the barn conversions combine the best of traditional craftsmanship, with antique furniture and modern kitchens and bathrooms. There are 3 great local pubs, all offer excellent food (and are dog friendly) including the CAMRA pub of the year 2007 – The Bell at Chittlehampton. The Rising Sun at Umberleigh, and The Exeter Inn at Chittlehamholt, provide pleasant off road walks which take 30 minutes and an hour and ten minutes respectively.
