Arrived at this lovely pub, relaxed atmosphere and friendly landlord and staff. Also lovely black Labrador wondering around pub, loves a game of ball! We both ordered steak and omg it was yummy! Done to perfection! Thankyou rising sun hotel you did us proud, a great end to my birthday weekend. We will be returning one day soon.

So pleased we chose to stay at The Rising Sun - very tired when we arrived but Jules, the Landlord, and his beautiful Labrador, made us so welcome that we were soon relaxing in the 14th century bar deciding what to have for our evening meal - you must try the steak. What do you like for breakfast? Just ask... More

Arrived to a dog barking at us all. Then having to eat our meal with it around our table. One of the waitresses was picking up his ball and playing with it, then brought our meals out to us !!! Meals were very basic, and expensive for what you had on your plate. Asked for tomato sauce and mayo for... More

Just had a very relaxing stay at the Rising Sun. Our room was well appointed and seems to have been newly upgraded. The restaurant had a varied menu with nicely served portions. Parking behind the Inn was a bonus. Being in a pub, you have to accept there is noise from the bar. The landlords have clearly worked hard to... More

Went for lunch last weekend- lovely lunch, although usual menu looked good, I had a seafood Thai curry so bit different from normal pub food but it was lovely. Good beer, friendly staff and bonus sunshine meant we could sit outside and watch the world go by- perfect.

We had a lovely couple of nights in this very comfortable hotel. The staff made us (and our dog) extremely welcome and nothing was too much trouble; the food was delicious - great portion sizes - room was very large and comfortable. All in all it was a lovely break.

Visiting Devon with the grandchildren can be exhausting. To arrive at a pub that accepts them and dogs is a real treat. Very busy and advised there would be a 20 minute wait we were pleased to be served well within that time. Seems to be very popular with groups of walkers, cyclists and others.

My partner Craig and I visited this weekend with my parents for a wedding a few miles away, we could not be happier with our stay, beautifully clean and welcoming with exceptionally friendly staff. The food was lovely, served with a smile and a great selection of beer! Jules, Carla and Nikki (not to mention mona!) made us so welcome... More
