We love this place, it is the perfect treat and a wonderful summer evening dinner for two. Events are well planned and good value with wine tasting being a personal favourite. So why do we like it so much? Well..... The staff are lovely with nothing too much trouble. They are knowledgable and discrete and they always remember a face!... More

Eleven adults and four children arrived at about 5.20 pm on Thursday 19th August 2016 after a 40th birthday celebration. We intended on having a meal but we all felt that we were not welcome. The staff attitude to us was poor to say the least. Our children were well behaved but when we asked when food would be served... More

We chose this hotel as a stopover on the way to Cornwall and stayed for 1 night in a mini suite overlooking the garden. Staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast was good with plenty of choice and so too was our evening meal. The only criticism I would make (which I did raise on checking out) is that our room... More

It is a long time since we have stayed at a hotel where the attention to detail of every aspect of the product was so obviously created and managed to perfection by the talented and caring owner. Olga Polizzi could spend a useful week at the Hartnoll Hotel to re-calibrate her critical measures of how to successfully run a small... More

Lovely hotel, beautiful surroundings, quiet location, friendly reception, very nice rooms, reasonable bar. Breakfast ok last time. Hopefully better this time. Only slight grumbles - the bar shuts down way too early, and if you're out late (past 11:00pm) make sure you let the staff know, otherwise you may well be knocking on the door to be let back in!... We came for afternoon tea and we chose to sit outside with the dog. The staff were very welcoming and friendly as always. The service was excellent and the cream tea was delicious. A lovely way to end a day out. Highly recommend

We had 2 rooms for three nights whilst we visited family in the area. Most of the staff we came across were very friendly and very efficient. There was a mix up with the booking but the hotel did their best to sort it out. The rooms were comfortable although I was not keen on the contemporary design. Who really... More

Location was fine, ambience OK and staff attentiveness good but it is often the cleanliness and quality of the food which let hotels down. No exception here. Bathroom requires deep clean and evening meal was greasy and overfacing - not great.

A very pleasant country hotel location. We were given a superior room (15) in the Gate House. The décor and fittings were to a very high standard. The gate house has its own small garden to sit in and watch the sun go down. The hotel breakfast was great, a good choice of English & continental to choose from. The... More
