What a crazy fantastic and apparently haunted inn this is. full of nooks and crannies and strange and wondrous artifacts, pictures, trinkets. I implore any one with a sense of fun and an interest in the fantastical to visit this amazing inn. oh yes decent grub and ale as well, and the landlady is a lovely character with stories to... A fascinating experience - leave a coin and wish for the fairies and pixies. Food not really an option but beer is real and there's lots to see. Walk around the car park, sit in the porch - walk up onto the moor

This has to be the worst pub in Devon if not England. The bar man works at the slowest speed, their menu states that they serve speciality pies, by this they mean very basic pies that they microwave, then make you wait 1 hour to serve them with soggy chips & charge you £8. Their beer was good but at... More

I do apologise for the long wait for your food but it was a very busy day. Our food is served in order of ordering and there were several people who had placed theirs before you. We use a combination oven to cook our speciality pies and pasties. As for our prices they are about average for our area. I... More

Very quirky pub, full of character which includes the landlord and land lady but £32 for 2 microwaved pasties, a ham sandwich and child ham egg and chips......the menu promised homemade giant pasties......would have fitted on a side plate.

Oh dear, so sorry you were disappointed. By my calculations your food costs were £8.50 for jumbo pasty and chips, 50p for gravy, ham sandwich £6:00, a £1 extra with cheese and a child's ham, egg and chips is £6 and there is a 50p credit card charge. We advertise jumbo pasties but our menu does not actually say 'homemade... More

There are no words to describe this strange, beautiful & incredibly unique pub. It's a whole lot of randomness rolled into one & I loved it! You could spend a week in there & still not take everything in. If you want different then this is the place for you. I didn't spend as much time in here as I... More

The Highwayman Inn claims it's uniqueness as you drive past...and they aren't fibbing! Well worth a stop for the young and young-at-heart, I've never seen anything like it, the owners clearly have a love of life and a sense of fun. Also look at the lovely deserted thatched cottage opposite that looks like it might have a ghost or two.

If you're in for a 70s style dining then it's a good place to go. We had to wait for nearly an hour and when the food arrived it looked like it's been taken out of a best of Iceland bag ... Fried greasy and not very satisfying. The place is quirky but just over crowded with stuff (not people)...... More

Sorry you didnt have a good experience at the inn. We do try to offer an interesting environment and be a little different from ther places and also appreciate we were not your cup of tea. Luckily Dartmoor has lots of hidden gems and we hope you enjoyed your visit to the area at the very least. More

I first came across this pub 31 years ago whilst touring Devon on a motorcycle. As I was in the area with my family on holiday we decided to pop in and see if it was how I remembered. What a good decision that was. It is a brilliant pub and we were made to feel really welcome. We were... More

We booked in to stay on Saturday evening, having read all about this place on the internet. My partner was very intrigued by the possibility of seeing Sam the ghost! We were met by the landlady Sally (and little Monty the dog who is so cute), who was lovely and were immediately shown up to a lovely, cosy room that... More

My partner and i travelled out of our way especially to see this famous pub, because i had never been before and it is years since my partner had been. On arrival we entered the bar where a photographer was in the process of taking a photo, with his tripod and all the gear,he asked if we could step to one side... More

Oh dear, my apologies. Had no idea. We dont indeed always know what is happening when we are busy in the summers. The photographer was nothing to do with us and I am so sorry your visit was spoilt. Some people are very inconsiderate. If it is any consolation I was sent a pic of me by some photographer and... More
