A night at this fantastic inn was a brilliant way to finish a 12 mile walk across Exmoor. Great room, service and great food - shower could have been slightly more luxurious, it was quite old fashioned.

Best homemade steak and ale pie I have ever tasted. Great draft ales. Friendly staff and peaceful surroundings. Handy to walking and cycling tracks across the road from hotel. Bridleway and part road trail can be followed all the way to Tarr Steps.

A very present family run inn. Very friendly. Good food and drink at reasonable prices. They assed the marmite test (a jar is available on the breakfast sideboard). We stayed for two days but would go back for longer. The hotel is very peaceful as there is no mobile signal but you can keep in contact via the free wifi

We booked online as part of our Southwest Coastpath walking trip. The hotel was easy to find (although we weren't sure where to park initially). It was huge! Our welcome was warm and informative. We booked a room on the top floor and found the floor beams and split levels quirky and characterful. The bathroom was a bit nerve-wracking to... More

Great setting , great food , and great staff and little extras in the room what else can you ask for.Family run great area for walking.Wished we had booked longer. The staff could not do enough for you, the food was great, lot of seating inside and out. The bedroom had slippers to use and dressing gowns, only downside for... More

We stayed here for one night. We had a decent sized room and an en suite bathroom. The decor and furnishings are a little dated. I think the overall style is intended to be traditional but it felt a bit dated to us. The restaurant serves a good range of dishes and our food was tasty but cooked just a... More

We had read another review of this hotel stating that it was basic but decided to book anyway due to it's perfect location in the centre of some excellent Exmoor walking country. On arrival we didn't have great expectations of the standard double we had booked but it turned out to be lovely with a huge comfortable bed and plenty... More

A lovely traditional Inn based at a superb location for peace and quiet (no mobile phone coverage), lovely walks with great views and the best steak and ale pie ever!! Well furnished and good sized rooms. Good pub style menu supplemented by more exotic specials, tried both very good indeed and great value. Some very interesting and different wines all... More

Very pleasant rural village setting, friendly welcome, simple and clean. Excellent breakfast. Good dinner with nice wine list. Exterior reprinting in progress but not a problem. The whole place needs a bit of a freshen up really but the underlying fabric is more than adequate for a simple country setting.
